  • Peter Schiff Is Wrong On Gold... Again [View article]
I see gold as being in a "d" leg retracement of its current uptrend with another move up before beginning its next decline.

  • J.C. Penney: A Common Sense Approach To Stability [View article]
I haven't shorted yet. The indicators agree with you but I don't have a sell signal yet. I expect lower prices but then afterwards as I have said - the low 20"s if the pattern holds-and then you said when pigs fly. Were having fun with this one aren't we.

I don't know if you have a good entry or bought enough time on your option but I agree that there are lower lows before the rubber meets the road.

  • Will Russia Continue To Affect Gold And Silver Prices? [View article]
    Robert,
Maybe the Ukrainian situation was created with the gold for currency aspect in mind. Nice catch.

  • Are Silver And Gold Ready For New Lows? [View article]
    Avi,
I will miss your writing. I do believe that you give too much thought to those who do not believe in tech analysis.

I wish you would reconsider and keep writing.

    Avi,

I for one will miss your letters. I will say that you spend too much time answering those who do not believe in tech analysis. I would ask that you reconsider and keep writing.

  • Wal-Mart Stores Inc. - Its Final Days [View article]
    Retail Maven,
I thought it was a good article. You covered a lot of ground. So far they have benefited from the food stamp/welfare programs as money is targeted, in part, directly at the grocery industry. Most grocers have benefited from government policy. Consider if these policies change.
Wal-Mart has already entered smaller neighborhood markets. In my opinion they are but large, poorly lit convenience stores.
One of the largest cost, the delivery of the product to warehousing and then to the stores are a place for innovation and maybe rethinking. They have their own trucks and trailers which is interesting because of all of the ancillary costs. Amazon has been mentioned as using drones in the future as an attempt to address these costs and possibly delivery time to boot. When there is so much opportunity for sub-contracting where independents can help lower price and I know dependability becomes a factor there just seems to be room for improvement. Rails could certainly help with this and maybe they do. From the information I get they have a schedule and delivery history with problems as well.
And then there are robotics in future of most industries.
So while we think that area of business solutions have been saturated there are always more possibilities. But then I am a technical guy not a fundamentalist.

  • J.C. Penney: Who Should You Believe, The Bulls Or The Bears? [View article]
First of all Google "Stocks:falling wedge" and familiarize yourself with the pattern. Then put up a two/two and a half year daily or weekly pattern and apply your trend lines to the highs and lows and you will see a wedge pattern.

The resolution of this (JCP) pattern gives a target minimum of $19.06.

Currently we are in the last wave down assuming that I am correct in my analysis. This last wave normally terminates at or slightly below the lower trend line "except" when it is truncated - buying pressure in this case and the wave does not make it all the way to the lower trend line prior to beginning its advance.

From a technical stand point the shorts are 71% of the float according to Yahoo finance and they will cover at some point. The pattern is a falling wedge which has an upside resolution if it works out with a minimum target of 19.06

The target if the pattern is not truncated will be below $3
( $2.32 is where the Fib line falls)

JCP is the best potential play that I have found.

    Achilles,
Your chart is totally wrong. Go back two years and redraw your trend lines and you will see a much better pattern.

  • Can J.C. Penney Be Saved? [View article]
My complaint about the merchandise they carry is the same with most of the retailers, it appears that all of the big chains have the same buyer for their inventory. The selections in all of these stores - for men's clothes and shoes anyway - are absolutely horrible. I can not find much of anything I would want to take out of any of these retailers.

  • Is J.C. Penney Past The Point Of No Return? [View article]
Davidoff has a point. That was quite a rant.
Amazon is doing the same thing with free shipping. It is disqualifying some purchases for free shipping and the prices they charge for shipping on those items seem somewhat higher than from other suppliers.
I simply deleted my order and moved on. JC Penny may be going out of business someday soon but the chart technicals are really going to make you eat crow I think. While it still has shorting opportunities for the next month or two I am still looking for a move up to near twenty or possibly the low twenties. We'll see. I've ate crow before but I believe it might be a little "rich"
    for you. ( :

  • GM set to introduce new mid-sized pickup [View news story]
    1980 xls,
Here again are comments that have no reality. The 300 cu. in. 6 cylinder that Ford produced went in to pick up trucks as well as F-600 dump trucks (I owned a 1967 F600 wit a 300 6cyl). Do you think the transmission could have anything to do with power and mpg requirements? The ability to get the mileage has been with us for quite awhile. These comments of struggling to get to a mpg point are your opinion and not facts.

  • GM set to introduce new mid-sized pickup [View news story]
    This morning's news:
"General Motors (GM -1.14%) is recalling 370,000 of its 2014 model-year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, citing software that could pose a fire risk."

The last three Silverado's that I owned ('97, '2000, and a '04) I could not keep a heat control unit(the dash control box) in them or a speedometer. The heat control boxes was $140 each. I quit buying Chevrolet trucks. With this mornings news it appears they still have problems in the design area. Reason unknown.

  • GM set to introduce new mid-sized pickup [View news story]
    Hubert,
That is absolutely untrue about the size of trucks unless you want to go back to the days of wood floor boards in the beds. In the 70's 80's and 90's we could get 4 men in the cab of a pick up. The roominess was adored. When the twin I-beam came along it began the competition for comfortable ride and now the trucks ride as good or better than most cars.
The downsizing of the trucks to the mid-size was to satisfy the delivery or small needs of some services and they are good for nothing but that and that's why sales are sluggish on the mid-size trucks. That being that the need (jobs and industry) are vanishing.

To make statements like that are merely a distraction from commenters who have something to contribute.
