  • Jatropha Feedstock Developments [View article]
I am a subscriber to the Biodigest Digest and it published a quite devastating article about the commercial development of Jatropha Oil based on several projects. Obviously there are two sides to any story, but I would look quite long and hard before investing too much money in Jatropha.

  • Get Ready for Affordable Thin-Film Solar Technology  [View article]
If wishes were horses beggers would ride. And companies would be profitable. And gullible investors would stop being taken for a ride.

  • First Solar's Great News...No, Terrible News...Wait... [View article]
I am puzzled by why 90% of the companies use polysilicon if thin film really is cheaper. Are they protected by patents, or are they assuming they truly have a better idea than everyone else?

  • FCC Takes On Apple and AT&T over Google Voice Rejection [View article]
I thinbk Apple may be losing the moral high ground; first trying to shut out Palm, now trying to stop Google. Anyone at Apple remember what happened to Microsoft after they played hard ball?

  • Microsoft Bares Knuckles Against Enterprise Software Competition  [View article]
Too bad he didn't address what they were doing to reverse the financial side of the business. Harder to fuzz over with talk rather than results?

  • Is IBM's Acquisition of SPSS Too Late?  [View article]
IBM buying software too late? I suggest you take a look at their accounting figures over the last 5 to 10 years and this question shoulde answer itself to you. I suspect most software companies would like to be such a failure.

  • Wind Power Grows by 33% in First Half [View article]
Having seen what Spain looks like with mile after mile of windmills installed, I for see a public backlash when people see what several windmills in their neighborhood look like. Ugly things and hard to ignore.

  • Monster Merger: IBM Buys SPSS for About $1.2 Billion in Cash [View article]
Amazing that after all of the presumed foolish moves detailed above, IBM's profits continue to climb quarter after quarter. And the dividend continues to keep going up 10% every year.

  • Revamping Traders' Pay [View article]
Since the traders are using the bank's money to do the trades, why should they not be forced to pay the same interest rate as any one outside the bank would do? I'm sure most of us would like the current "heads I win, tails you lose" environment they operate in.

  • Why Pennsylvania's Solar Plans Create Questions [View article]
Having grown up in Pennsylvania, I have serious doubts about solar energy ever being effective there. While the old saw about the two seasons there being winter and the 4th of July was a bit of an exaggeration, there was very little sun I ever saw there. Florida it is not.

  • Will Pickens' Scrapped Project Slow Wind Energy Momentum? [View article]
While I have several alternative energy investments, I think your rant is a bit over the top. Could it be that people push coal, oil, gas, etc. because there is no practical alternative over the next couple of decades? Or do you support a return to the 1800's until alternative energy becomes practical (and affordable)?
