    Good article,

long time shareholder-over 16 years. Along with margin compression in Marine,I seem to recall they were being very selective in customers-choosing low risk, low margin rather then go further out the risk/repayment scale.Slow steaming and low margins in the segment has held Marine back while Land and Aviation have preformed much better.
Would be nice to see it 50-55 range again.

  • It Is Time To Take A Shot With Sturm, Ruger & Co.? [View article]
I still see my Dist dropping prices, doing free laser, buy 10 get one free deals on all the firearms makers, the channel is packed and I,like other retailers are reluctant to buy lots of inventory only to see it offered later for less.
RGR is still a great company and will be a good investment at some point ,just wait to "pull the trigger" for now

I see lots of those RGR TD 22 available at my wholesalers all 5 variates.
Whole sale on those LCR's has dropped and they do go on closeout(the LCP's seem to be selling better),is just under 300 (w/o laser )

As I have mentioned before,I have a 01 dealer FFL and yes the channel is packed, the wholesalers are doing weekly "blowout" over stock pricing even on RGR .From a dealer standpoint its hard to step up and put to much new inventory when it could discounted and your have to sell below cost.
The money is in the Allocated guns ( like Colt Saa's),those you can sell at a premium.
I like guns-,like RGR but not here, not yet, there will be a better time to buy again IMO.

  • Ruger Innovation Continues, But You Can't Beat The Cycle [View article]
Lots of lower priced AR's being discounted by Distributors ,not sure how big a market there is for the 7.63 Piston driven SR556, wholesale they come up almost double the Bushmaster 5.56 closeouts I am seeing, apples and oranges yes but getting someone in the 1600-1700 gun market is not the same as the sub 800.
I might get one for myself thou-toughest part of the business is not spending money on more guns for yourself !

We will have to see how the Distributors handle the now lower "turn" model that was talked about in the last CC. I hold a FFL and get monthly-some like Davidsons weekly sales flyers,so far RGR has not forced them to do the "buy 5 get one free" that I see with other gun manufactures from over stock. The new LC9s is selling well,as are the LCR's,the LCP's are getting discounted at the big box retailers like CAB .

I agree not to by or add to RGR stock,

  • Friday's Sell-Off Is A Buying Opportunity For This Fast-Growing Energy Services Consolidator [View article]
as mentioned before long time-over 16yrs in INT,I did "hedge" as I have the most of the last qtrs,1/2 of my position with cover calls (45-50's)so I will have the "income" to wait.
After listening to the CC my feeling is we bounce around 40-47 until another acquisition is announced as in the past.

  • Main Street Capital's (MAIN) CEO Vincent Foster on Q1 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Also a somewhat long time holder of MAIN (and TCAP),the pending removal of BDC's from the index sure is taking its toll on share price-perhaps an oversold area has finally been reached but I wonder if buyers are just waiting until after the full re-balancing has been done.

At least we get paid to wait !

    Thanks for the article Chuck,
another long time holder of INT and pleased with my investment.I have in the past sold some OTM covered calls (55's,50's 45's ) to boost the income of this growth stock.I agree another catalyst might be the positive (hopefully) news on the exposure to the train derailment in Canada.

  • Sturm Ruger - The Best Small Cap Dividend I've Ever Seen Is Driving 70% Upside [View article]
Long RGR but wanted to post as a gun enthusiast ( not nut) and FFL holder.

    A) there are indeed backround checks at gun shows-nothing go's on inside a show that does not happen in normal retail sales for dealers. The antigun lobby wants to register(backround check) private transfers (which include family/friends).

    B) Ruger does make a AW SR 556 and Mini 14 as well as full auto versions.

    C) Some/much of the back log is over ordering (dist orders 500 in hopes of getting 100) but demand is still very strong

  • Add Some Firepower To Your Portfolio With This Gun Stock [View article]
I have been in and around the gun business -currently hold a FFL, for over 35 years and never seen it this good.Once a person buys one gun they buy more, collections are growing and more states allowing for carry permits, they crime drops in those states too !

Always happy to add to RGR and my collection, selling puts might be a nice trade at this level if you think its dropping.I doubt much of a pullback is in the cards thou with the div increasing.

Great stock, and they make excellent firearms.I live not far from the Newport NH plant and know many friends and neighbors that work there.
Just to correct one wrong thing in the article-a common misconception.
Nothing goes on inside a gun show any different then outside- at a gunshop. All firearm purchases made through FFL dealers go through back-round checks ( 4473 and NICS) inside a gun show or outside at the shop.
In many states,NH for instance,no back round check is required if you sell/trade between two legal ( non FFL licensed) individuals (friends/family).And thats the way it should be !
