  • Friday's Sell-Off Is A Buying Opportunity For This Fast-Growing Energy Services Consolidator [View article]
as mentioned before long time-over 16yrs in INT,I did "hedge" as I have the most of the last qtrs,1/2 of my position with cover calls (45-50's)so I will have the "income" to wait.
After listening to the CC my feeling is we bounce around 40-47 until another acquisition is announced as in the past.

  • Main Street Capital's (MAIN) CEO Vincent Foster on Q1 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Also a somewhat long time holder of MAIN (and TCAP),the pending removal of BDC's from the index sure is taking its toll on share price-perhaps an oversold area has finally been reached but I wonder if buyers are just waiting until after the full re-balancing has been done.

At least we get paid to wait !

    Thanks for the article Chuck,
another long time holder of INT and pleased with my investment.I have in the past sold some OTM covered calls (55's,50's 45's ) to boost the income of this growth stock.I agree another catalyst might be the positive (hopefully) news on the exposure to the train derailment in Canada.

  • Sturm Ruger - The Best Small Cap Dividend I've Ever Seen Is Driving 70% Upside [View article]
Long RGR but wanted to post as a gun enthusiast ( not nut) and FFL holder.

    A) there are indeed backround checks at gun shows-nothing go's on inside a show that does not happen in normal retail sales for dealers. The antigun lobby wants to register(backround check) private transfers (which include family/friends).

    B) Ruger does make a AW SR 556 and Mini 14 as well as full auto versions.

    C) Some/much of the back log is over ordering (dist orders 500 in hopes of getting 100) but demand is still very strong

  • Add Some Firepower To Your Portfolio With This Gun Stock [View article]
I have been in and around the gun business -currently hold a FFL, for over 35 years and never seen it this good.Once a person buys one gun they buy more, collections are growing and more states allowing for carry permits, they crime drops in those states too !

Always happy to add to RGR and my collection, selling puts might be a nice trade at this level if you think its dropping.I doubt much of a pullback is in the cards thou with the div increasing.

  • Add Some Firepower To Your Portfolio With This Gun Stock [View article]
Great stock, and they make excellent firearms.I live not far from the Newport NH plant and know many friends and neighbors that work there.
Just to correct one wrong thing in the article-a common misconception.
Nothing goes on inside a gun show any different then outside- at a gunshop. All firearm purchases made through FFL dealers go through back-round checks ( 4473 and NICS) inside a gun show or outside at the shop.
In many states,NH for instance,no back round check is required if you sell/trade between two legal ( non FFL licensed) individuals (friends/family).And thats the way it should be !

  • World Fuel Services: Sell-Off Is Buying Opportunity [View article]
Long time holder of INT-over 15 years, and have listened to every CC over that time. Although they seemed pretty confident INT would have little exposure and the insurance-low deductibles, were sufficient I was a bit concerned by one of the questions during the Q&A. Even though INTs contract was with CP (who subcontracted to MMA,the crude title was owned by DPTS ( an INT subsidiary ) read the question from Atkins of Stephens(page 6) after consulting with environmental attorneys in Canada ,

"Got you, and because as we’ve been consulting with environmental attorneys in Canada it seems to us as though in times of emergency situations that the local governmental authorities can compel those that held title or hold title to the commodity to pick up those expenses, and so we’re just wondering given that, the definitive statement that you made on the website made us think that there was something that we just weren’t aware of and I was just curious as to what's driving that, the strength of the statement I guess."

Does the law in Canada indeed leave INT liable ?

  • World Fuel Services Corp. (INT) Management Discusses Q2 2013 Results (Webcast) [View article]
Read the CC transcripts, they seem to feel they are covered by insurance for the rail crash and have low deducible.Maybe its some downgrade in the works due to the fuel spill.
Marine really put up a good bottom line and seem to feel air will have a strong 3Q too.
Very frustrating to see them put up a nice number and have the market advance without them !

  • June FBI NICS checks rise 3% Y/Y, according to KeyBanc, marking a meaningful deceleration "from the 15.9% increase in May, 27.2% increase in April and 26.3% increase in March." This doesn't bode well for shares of Sturm Ruger (RGR -0.6%), Smith & Wesson (SWHC +0.1%), and Cabela's (CAB +0.7%) according to analyst Scott W. Hamann who says "sustained retail increases during 2H13 [will be] difficult to achieve against channel restocking and political rhetoric/pressure." [View news story]
It depends on the state, here in NH the carry does not let you buy a gun(handgun or long gun) any different, just lets you carry one.A 4473 (NICS) is still required. The only buyers-non dealer buyers, that can get a gun(handgun or longgun) without a 4473 and NICS check are 03 FFL (collectors) holders.

Ammo is the largest issue the buyers are facing now, can't find it to shoot the guns they are buying !

  • Gun-control legislation that would have required background checks online and at guns shows fails in the Senate by a 54-46 vote, short of the 60 required to pass. Some of the reasons for its falling short include concerns over the unnecessary burdens on law-abiding gun owners, and claims that it violates the Constitution’s right to bear arms. [View news story]
    Bingo !

The reason is,they want to get to registration as quick as possible and don't want to address school safety !

    1) Nothing-no laws change, goes on "inside" a gun show then outside, all FFL's must use NICS for sales.Same with gun sales over internet-ALL interstate sales MUST go through FFL (and NICS)
    2) Criminals do NOT buy guns, they steal them !
    3) Nothing in that bill would have stopped Newtown, what would have stopped it is armed guards at the school-like 1/3 have now

Yes and CSV is doing now in the funeral Business.

The land has been the big growth engine and helped as they pulled back in marine-I get the sense from the CC they are very risk averse in Marine now and taking lower margin less credit risk customers.
The last couple of acquisition's where a benefit to the stock price, perhaps that will be the case next time as well.
