Gun-control legislation that would have required background checks online and at guns shows fails in the Senate by a 54-46 vote, short of the 60 required to pass. Some of the reasons for its falling short include concerns over the unnecessary burdens on law-abiding gun owners, and claims that it violates the Constitution’s right to bear arms. [View news story]
Bingo !
The reason is,they want to get to registration as quick as possible and don't want to address school safety !
1) Nothing-no laws change, goes on "inside" a gun show then outside, all FFL's must use NICS for sales.Same with gun sales over internet-ALL interstate sales MUST go through FFL (and NICS) 2) Criminals do NOT buy guns, they steal them ! 3) Nothing in that bill would have stopped Newtown, what would have stopped it is armed guards at the school-like 1/3 have now

I agree that would help the share price greatly, distribution increase's have for other MLP's.That said the strong yld has made it much easier to hold the shares over the years even without share price appreciation.I have been in it since 07 and added shares with each dist which helps.

Yes and CSV is doing now in the funeral Business.
The land has been the big growth engine and helped as they pulled back in marine-I get the sense from the CC they are very risk averse in Marine now and taking lower margin less credit risk customers. The last couple of acquisition's where a benefit to the stock price, perhaps that will be the case next time as well.

In listening to the CC,the analyst's like other times before always seem to have a hard time modeling the business.I think that leads to a lot of the miss's and beats. Not your normal business
Strong balance sheet, still a lot in the revolver and your right the like to do acquisitions- accretive ones.

Been in INT for over 16 years and two splits-bought it way back when Steve Leeb was doing his newsletter.I have a good bit with all the splits and,so far, been successful at selling OTM calls to boost a divy.

The FBI reports it conducted a record number of background checks for consumers wishing to purchase a firearm in December as the number of checks almost hit 2.8M for the month. While the demand surge is positive for Sturm Ruger (RGR +0.1%), Smith & Wesson (SWHC +1.8%), and Cabela's (CAB +1.9%) - KeyBanc is out with a note warning that the current high level of demand for guns is unsustainable over the course of the year. The only thing that might slow sales in not lack of demand, its lack of supply. Every gun shop and distributor is cleaned out of and AR platform rifle and the shelves are getting bare of many other guns. Some buyers are doubling their money by flipping them by selling on the auction sites (G/B and A/A- perfectly legal as they still got to a 01 FFL for transfer).

No, but I can imagine a company like RGR( or SWHC) that makes is money over saving people. The only way you can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.The police and military and yes even the public do that every day.
