  • Swap out Exxon for ConocoPhillips, Imperial Oil or Suncor, Barclays says [View news story]
I already own COP, as well as XOM, so I plan to sit tight. I also own SU, and I will continue to hold onto it for the long term. It is rumored that XOM is going to offer a buy out proposal to ADC, which would boster XOM's earnings if it happens.

  • Another Brazilian Clunker: Petrobras' Coming Debt Debacle [View article]
The Corvette Kid is right on the money regarding the present administration and PBR. Dilma Roussef and her fellow henchmen have done everything in their power to make Brazil head for third rate status, and their soccer team played on the same level as this current administration. Look out below if she is able to cop a second term. Let's hope for the good of the country that the voters see through this woman and vote her out of office. Then maybe Brazil might have a chance to regain some of her status. Hope Lula decides to pull his support for this self destructive woman.

  • United Technologies beats by $0.13, beats on revenue [View news story]
Profit taking today. This stock is headed higher. Be patient and reap the rewards. I'm not letting this stock go, because this company is well managed and in the right business.

  • GE flops after strong but "noisy" Q2 results [View news story]
Why sell? Because watching grass grow is more exciting than holding this stock. But like the Honeymooners with Jackie Gleason, " One of these days, Alice, one of these days!" I don't doubt GE will eventually break out one of these days, but when is another question. Compare GE with the likes of FDX, UNP, KSU, BA, MON, JNJ, UPS, XOM. COP, EOG, DVN, ACP, APA just to name a few investments that have left GE standing in the dust. I still own some GE, but I've taken about half off the table, because grass grows faster up to this point.

  • Bloomberg: GE in talks to sell home appliance unit [View news story]
I'm sure GE management has given this a lot of thought. If they do sell off this branch, only time will tell if this was a good or bad decision. I'm not going to try and second guess Imelt on this, because he is paid to make these kinds of decisions. If I felt otherwise, I would sell the stock.

  • Valero expects below consensus Q2 earnings, shares -2.2% AH [View news story]
I think you will be rewarded in the long term if you just put VLO into file 13 and revisited at a later date. Good companies with good management win in the long term.

  • General Electric: Helping Clean Up The Canadian Oil Sands [View article]
To bad Obama doesn't pay any attention to T. Boone Pickens. Maybe the Obama administration is afraid they would be accused of using some common sense, which T. Boone has in spades. Keystone would free us up for our need to be sending our kids to the Middle East, which has proven to a continuing failure. I don't think our Tree Huggers care much about sending our boys to clean up the Middle East, but would block Keystone at any cost.

  • Bank Of America: Get Out Now, The Bank's Coffin Is About To Be Nailed Shut [View article]
I bought BAC and WBC for the long term. I'm not going to worry about either stock. If either takes a hit, I might add to the position.

  • Petrobras CEO says no capital raise before 2030 [View news story]
This present sociolistic administration is a road block to PBR. The current president is a nightmare to businesses in Brazil.

  • Petrobras falls 4% as exploration success means billions more in expenses [View news story]
Too bad PBR got caught with this socialistic administration. She has sucked Brazil's two main companies dry, ie PBR and VALE.

  • Strong crude pricing could set up refiner buying opportunity, Cowen says [View news story]
Valero is the refiner powerhouse. I remember when Clinton was running against Bush in 1994, and he said to himself, "It's the economy stupid!" Like Clinton, I'm telling myself " It's energy, stupid."

  • Seadrill's Dividend Is Too Risky [View article]
I would like to see the dividend cut in order to lower the SDRL debt. I would be more comfortable with this stock if they would begin to lower the debt and/or buy back shares.
