Thank you for your research. It sounds as if the worst is behind Citi(C) as they were the first to be unwound, therefore, the first to be healed.

  • The Video Game Industry: Nintendo Back In The Lead [View article]
Wow! Clearly you know what you are talking about when it comes to dissecting companies. I am sincerely blown away at the level of detail you have bestowed upon us mere mortals. You make me feel like I have been throwing darts when deciding on what stocks I invest in. You have proven your point in that Nintendo is and will be the clear winner in the VIDEO GAME WARS of the new Millenium.
This article should be leaked to all the major news carrier's, as it is as good as any of the so called "expert's" could conjure up. You are the only person who has accuratley described what Ninntendo is doing, and how they should NOT be compared to SONY AND MICROSOFT, as Nintendo is not playing on the same field as the those two behomeths. I own both a Wii and a PS3 and they are completley different. The PS3 has awesome graphics, but it is complicated, big, loud and puts out enough heat to warm a clan of eskimos. The Wii is unassuming and a lot of fun. I can not play it for a month and go back and pick up whre I left off, the PS3 requires constant attention.
Nintendo is lean and mean and when they smell blood they go for the kill. They will not be happy until they own at least 50% of the market. Thank You so much for your hard work, and I will defintely sleep soundly tonight as all I will be hearing is the cash register ringing. I am long and all in Nintendo.
The last two days of trading in the US has been extremely bullish As it clearly shows that mutual funds are BACKING UP THE TRUCK on NINTENDO. For those of you who dont know NTDOY.PK usually trades along with Nintendo of Japan. However, in the last two days, NTDOY.PK has blazed its own path a full $1.60 ahead of Japan, on very high volume. BUY

  • Nintendo's FY Profit Jumps 77%, Boosts Dividend [View article]
    Steven,

Thank you for your comments, I really enjoy what you have to say, as you tend keep a level head (maybe slightly bearish, but mostly level) on on your comments. I like the comments about Golden Week as I had no idea about that.

Have you ever read "Game Over"? If not, it is all about Nintendo's history and how they rolled the "trojan horse" ie. the original NES, into America's living room. In the late 80's and early 90's they basically were the only Video Game company in the US. They dominated the industry and they knew it. Since then, they have slowly lost their dominance, but now with the Wii and the DS they are back to take over the Industry. The people behind Nintendo are very coy about what they say, but deep down inside they think they have the "Golden Ticket" ( Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) , and I obviously think they are right.
I am sure The Good Doctor will put it more eloquently than me, but I think they forecasted a weak, essentially flat EPS on purpose, so that they can once again surprise in a BIG WAY.
Also, the price action on NTDOY.PK has been acting very peculiar lately. On most days it follows the price in Japan the night before, but lately it has been a good 50 cents higher. That to me tells me someone thinks that there is a lot of room for this stock to run. I could be wrong, but it seems bullish to me.

    DEAR STEVEN,

First, thank you for covering Nintendo and other Japanese stocks, as no one else seems to take the time to give us timely reports on NTDOY, except for, of course, the GOOD DOCTOR.

Second, I think your point on, "Nintendo is known for its conservative guidance and multiple upward revisions, especially this past year." needs to be emphasized even more than it is, as that will help investors make the decision of buying the stock or not. Nintendo has ALWAYS downplayed their forecasts and based on the current numbers (Pokemon for the DS pre-sold close to 600,000 in the US alone) and the fact that the have many blockbuster software titles slated for release in fiscal '08 they are clearly doing it again.

Yes, I am long on NTDOY

  • Questioning Nintendo's Secondary Offering [View article]
The Good Doctor returns. Keep the detailed insight coming. I concur with your sentiments on Nintendo needing to buy back shares instead of having the Banks dump the stock on the market. They could easily sell their stake in both the Seatlle Mariners and Atlanta Hawks to buy back shares, and then split the stock. Many gamers have meager savings, so a lower stock price would be a big help in boosting NTDOY's stock price. Hopefully someone in Osaka hears your voice and acts on your sage advice.

  • Nintendo Shares Should Continue To Soar [View article]
Wow! I am a HUGE Nintendo gamer and dabble in trading stocks, and have always wondered if you could buy Nintendo stock here in the US. Thank you for posting such great information on NTDOY. I too believe Nintedno is ready to break all kinds of records in the gamer world. They are reaching all kinds of new people outside the so-called "gamer world", like my mom for instance, she just bought a DS lite for sudoku and Big-Brain Academy. My nephew who is 5 loves Animal-crossing. When I bought my Wii last weekend the buzz in the air was palpaple. It was 3 degrees on Feb 11th and it felt like X-mas. Below are my thoughts on the WII's future.
    One stop Shop
I think the Wii can be used as both video game console and COMPUTER. Now that it offers WII news, weather and internet it can easily be used as a computer and for only $250 bucks. Even if someone wanted it just for e-mail, it still would be a great buy.
    WIi software
The are some issues with WII in that it lacks a lot of good games(but what new console does, remember the XBOX), but it has its share and compared to PS3 (which basically has nothing) it has a lot. It took developers a while to get the games right for the DS and now it boasts an awesome library of creative and innovative games for everyone from hard core gamer, little kids, grandparents and everyone in between. Obviously, the same thing will happen to the WII in no time.
Also, the concept of Nintendo's virtual console games is another brilliant move. Every Nintendo fan will buy a at least a few games and if you buy Wii points in a retail store you HAVE to buy at least $20 worth and most of this is PURE PROFIT that goes straight to the bottom line.
Nintendo's strategy of slowly rolling new options to the WII like news, internet and next will be Inline play is pure genious. I believe in the next few years they upgrade the wii to High-Def, just like they slowly upgraded the DS.
Nintendoman please continue to post as you seem to know how to crunch the numbers and spot buying opportunities.
And yes I am LONG NTDOY. Did I mention that I love the Dividend
