  • Futures jump on Greek deal optimism [View news story]
    lzl,

it is no secret that I am a liberal...but I have to totally agree.

At the end of the day, the whole country seems to think that the rest of the EU should fund their poor choices and bad economic management (while they collect "pensions").

Greece needs to get it though their heads they if they are going to take the Germans money they need to have their hat in their hand and do the German's bidding. If that tastes nasty (and I have no doubt it does) then they have to live in even worse poverty than further austerity will bring.

it would seem that if PG thinks these brands don't have value add (enough to keep them) then owning them under another parent company would not make sense.

the recent 3.8% increase (lousy for DGI but good for a utility) is a hopeful sign....assuming next year's increase is not .05%!

crushed? I bought DUK when it was yielding 6%. if you think it was crushed this year wait until the rates actually rise!

I don't think it is a matter of "kicking them out". They have voted themselves out.

It's a sinking ship. The kobayashi maru. It's the no win scenario.

The basic problem is that someone told Greece they could join the Euro and live like the Germans but nobody told them how to have an economy like the Germans, to work like the Germans, pay taxes like the Germans, etc

  • Greek Tragedy [View article]
It has been quite a few years since I was in Greece but I noticed at the time (2005?) that almost EVERY HOUSE on Rhodes had a solar powered water heater.

I wonder how or if this (or other "at source" renewable) plays into energy consumption?

  • Unlocking The Mysteries Behind The Monthly Dividend Company [View article]
    ok...lets try this again.

I am so convinced the author is right that I just put some money into O.

"put a small foot in the ocean today"

however, as with all investments, I may be wrong and have paid for O at a time when the price was too high and I could have made a smarter investment by waiting. Having timed my investment poorly would lead to a loss (at least on paper) of equity.

"we will see if a shark gets it"

really? that might be offensive or too subtle (irrelevant) for someone to grasp?

I have seen about 10,000 posts more offensive and/or irrelevant than that.
