  • New York's Economic Crisis: Banks Play Significant Role [View article]
The best ideas are usually the simplest. Learning to live with less is a discipline utterly foreign to the majority of Americans at every economic station.Thriftiness may be foisted on the most stubborn budget offenders.I hope so.Too bad there isnt a "greediness" jail for all whose excesses have caused so much harm...

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
Thank-you one and all for your information, esp. "The Whole Picture". I have noticed that sometimes a stock's price may have moved a great deal since it's 8 p.m. after hours close, in response to some (good or bad ) news. By the time the market has opened for the da,y the stock's price has already made it's big move for the day!

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
THIS IS COMPLETELY UNRELATED, BUT CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT MAKES STOCK PRICES MOVE PRIOR TO THE PRE-MARKET OPEN ?(BEFORE 8 A.M.) ARE PRICE CHANGES COMING FROM FOREIGN EXCHANGES? AND, IS THERE ANY WAY ( FOR ME OR YOU )TO TRADE AT 7 A.M.? USING, SAY, E TRADE, WHICH ALLOWS SOME FOREIGN EXCHANGE BUSINESS?

  • Preparing for the Fall [View article]
Since beginning to learn how to invest/trade or both two years I have concluded that making money from investing is very difficult. One thing I have learned in the last year is that the market can go way up without any real economic ( or at times rational) reasons.Or maybe the why is information I dont have..or whatever...
I have learned a great deal, and am facinated and hooked, but I remain 90% in cash since fall of '07. I can figure out what should do well and why, on many occasions, but this market is too scarey for me to risk losing my money!

  • Financials Likely in Dead Cat Bounce, But Fed's Now a Wildcard [View article]
(Off subject a bit ) But if the Fed is "the wildcard" ,where does the FED derive the legal right to stick the taxpayer for non-regulated banking bailouts, that will supposedly keep the banking sector afloat?
Details of the Bear/JPM deal are scant and very difficult for the general public (taxpayers) to understand.

  • 5 Reasons Why the U.S. Dollar Will Weaken Further [View article]
vince sanchez, i cant believe my eyes. someone else finaly said it. MORE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION! DUH... THE HISTORY OF, OR RATHER THE PURPOSEFUL DISTRUCTION OF AMERICAN PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM IS A VERY INTERESTING AND TELLING STORY. TOOK PLACE IN THE 1930'S. EVERYONE WAS TO HAVE HIS/HER OWN CARS, WITH TIRES AND LOTS OF GASOLINE!! THAT PLAN WORKED AND ENRICHED THE PEOPLE WHO PROFITED. NOW THAT PLAN IS SOMEWHAT IMPLODING AS SUCH MASSIVE CONSUPTION IS TAKING IT'S TOLL.and there is no reliable system of public transport excpt n.y. IF INTERESTED GOOGLE "TAKEN FOR A RIDE. HOW GENERAL MOTORS...." etc.

  • Market Theory: No Pain, No Gain [View article]
ROGER, THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INPUT. I READ YOUR COMMENTS WITH GREAT FREQUENCY. AM NEW TO INVESTING BY MYSELF, FOR MYSELF,AS I WRESTED AWAY A PORTION OF TRUSTASSETS(OF WHICH I AM A TRUSTEE) TO MANAGE MYSELF AS OF LAST OCT/NOV.(HAVING BECOME THOROUGHLY DISDGUSTED WITH THE USUAL 15-20 MUTUAL FUND PORTFOLIO..WHICH SEEMED TO FIT ANY AND ALL MARKETS(WHATS WRONG WITH THAT FORMULA..FOR THE OWNER OF THE INVESTED FUNDS) I ALWAYS FOUND IT UTTERLY FACINATION THAT BROKERAGES DO NOT FORWARD STATEMENTS OF THE ASSETS THEY SLICE OFF AKA "FEES") aS OF LAST FRIDAY I WAS UP ABOUT4.5% WHICH I THINK IS DAMNED GOOD. AS W.BUFFET SAYS, DONT LOSE $, WHICH I DIDNT. I DID FREAK A BIT YESTERDAY..WISH I HADNT. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THOSE SALES TO SETTLE BEFORE LOADING UP AGAIN. OH WELL, A DAY AT A TIME, THEY SAY, AND AT THIS POINT ITS PROBABLY BEST TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION..AGAIN, I ALWAYS READ YOUR POSTS WITH RELISH! AND MUSTARD SOMETIMES, DIJON OF COURSE.
