lol @ "news flash"...I don't think this news will impact any healthcare ETF's but I appreciate the editors' sense of humor. Good to know you can smoke 7 joints a week and still be considered a casual user.

This is just a write-up on a stock that is making a's not an article where you get to tear the writer a new a$$hole for a typo or a poor word choice. If you bought the stock 5 years ago you would have a 100% return. Nobody at SA said anything about YTD or a 12-month return. The writer is telling you the stock has returned to a $100.00+ share price after being range-bound in the $90's for quite a long time. Anyone familiar with the stock knows exactly what the headline means.

  • Preciously Functional: Palladium May Outshine Its Cohorts ... Again [View article]
Great article from a great perspective ("not" financial advise). Anyone looking to invest in Pd should consider the high volatility. It traded over $2000 in 2001 and under $275 in 2005.

  • AMR Emerges From Chapter 11; Its Stock Proves The Exception To The Rule [View article]
Can anyone confirm that Jan. 8th is the date of the next distribution to old AAMRQ shareholders? I believe Jan 8th is 30 calendar days after the "settlement date" or effective date.

so how many shares of AAL do I get if I had 500 AAMRQ and 150 LCC and where the hell are they? I see AAL is trading but my account has the old shares locked-up. A lot of the major financial websites I use say those tickers don't even exist.

The special div. sounds great but doesn't that mean that the stock is going to open on 6/12 and trade roughly $1.31 less than the previous day?

  • A below par reading on personal spending for April was affected by lower gas prices and home heating bills and isn't a biting indictment on retail spending (AEO, ANF, ARO, BBBY, BBY, BJ, CHS, COH, COST, DG, DLTR, GPS, HD, JCP, JWN, KSS, LOW, LTD, M, NDN, NKE, ODP, PIR, PLCE, RSH, SKS, SPLS, TGT, TJX, URBN, WMT, WSM, ZLC), according to economists. Auto sales also cooled off just a bit in April which had an impact. So far, retail trends have been largely favorable in May as the height of the spring selling season shifted a few weeks later. [View news story]
What stock is ticker symbol NDN? Didn't Apollo buy 99 cent only stores to take it private? You can't trade/quote that symbol any more

  • Cramer's Mad Money - 19 Earnings To Watch In The Week Ahead (2/8/13) [View article]
In what way has MDLZ been a "rocket ship", Jim?

A stock up 5% is not a rocket ship. He was dead wrong about F and ZQK which are up 60 and 100% in the same time frame that MDLZ is up only 5%. He specifically told people NOT to buy F all last summer and ZQK in December.

How many times per show does he mention his so-called "charitable trust" or remind us that he worked at a hedge fund 20 years ago? All of that is irrelevant to his audience of individual investors. So don't listen to him when he tells you to get out of MDLZ; he has no basis to make recommendations for your individual portfolio.

  • ConocoPhillips (COP) is in the process of divesting $9.6B in assets this year, and Oppenheimer's Fadel Gheit expects it to successfully apply proceeds to help fund new projects and increased production. In raising his target price on COP to $70 from $65, Gheit says the strategy, coupled with a high dividend yield, could lead to 20% multiple expansion and boost the stock. [View news story]
I guess the dividend editor at S.A. is on's another dividend declaration that never made it to the website: COP $0.66 / share declared 2/6, ex 2/14, pays 3/1. Yield 4.56% which ain't too shabby.
