  • More on Apple: iPhone 6 launches reportedly set for August/September  [View news story]
I agree with you, tiger. The Beats audio enhancement just seems to add some bass and volume; and it does not engage when you pair the phone to a Bluetooth speaker. I also agree with you on the Beats/Apple acquisition....I offer the Tyrese Gibson/Dr. Dre youtube video as evidence that these two organizations are not a good mix. I don't understand why AAPL would want to do business with a rapper whose lyrics are 90% about guns, drugs and female dogs (with the other 10% instructing other rap performers to perform an unnatural act upon themselves.)

  • Apple Is Acquiring A Fad - Not Quality - And That Is Troubling  [View article]
The usually fine folks at CNBC deleted my comment on the Apple/Beats deal (of which I can find no AAPL press release even mentioning the deal) for using the word "ghetto" as an adjective.

Mr. Dre is an idiot for being part of that video, using the four-letter word meaning to fornicate and taking part of a drunken celebration. This can only hurt his chances of the deal going through. Everyone commenting on CNBC seems to believe the deal has already gone through.

Beats is a ghetto brand, regardless of the price of the items it sells. My opinion does not make me a racist. The product is all hype. I say this because I have a friend who works in the music retail business and she says the Beats headphones are always returned on the 29th or 30th day by people who just want the money back. That in itself is pretty "ghetto". The product is just rented, for free.

I must question why CNBC plays the Tyrese/Dre video....its's playing again as I type, for about the 100th time today. Apparently it's OK for them to "bleep" the expletives in the video but I can't simply say the brand is "ghetto"

Josh Brown (who I respect) on CNBC just used the word "gangster" on live TV and he said it as if he was doing an impression of a black man, but if I say "ghetto" I am a racist. The folks at AAPL are taking a big risk here by associating the brand with a rapper that constantly mentions drugs, guns and disrespecting women.

Am I the only person who finds this whole deal to be unbelievable? Every other word out of Dre's mouth is the derogatory word for African-Americans. Old School rappers like Dre, Snoop, Jay-Z, and Biggie rap (or rapped) about nothing but drugs, "gats," booze and loose women they describe as if they were female dogs.

All that being said, it is just my opinion that any deal between AAPL and Dre is just bad news. It jeopardizes the brand. These brands do not fit together....Silicon Valley Country Clubs don't serve Al'ize and there's no Apple Store in Compton. If the deal goes through they need to end their relationship with someone as unprofessional as Dre. The video speaks volumes! Why else would it have been removed so quickly? (hint: because it's ghetto)

For those who think AAPL can do nothing wrong you need to play Devil's Advocate and at least consider the downside to this deal. Dre is going to open his big mouth again.

Beats already has it's sound enhancement in the HTC Windows Phone 8x so it's not preposterous to suggest an iphone would have the same enhancement.

A lot of people talk about the need for "product innovation" at Apple but nobody likes my idea that they should make a phone specifically for the 'tween market (ages 10-12.) Phone owners are getting younger and younger every day. Apple already knows how to make smaller phones and they already have the ability for parental controls. To me it's a no-brainer.

  • Apple Depends On Strong Demand For The iPhone 6  [View article]
Maybe replacement demand alone cannot support growth, but pre-teens and seniors are adopting smartphones faster than ever as first-time owners. I only have anecdotal evidence of this: youngsters on the basketball courts used to borrow my phone to call their parents but now someone in their cohort always has a phone to borrow. They all want an iphone; its a status symbol. No adult has ever told me I have a "cool phone." Personally, I think apple should introduce the "iphone junior" It would come pre-loaded with Instagram so they can post 10 photos of their new Nike's.

  • When To Sell Your Apple Shares  [View article]
Perhaps you're parsing my words so I will restate my position: Tim Cook, speaking on behalf of the BoD, increased the dividend to satisfy Carl Iachn's request rather than to provide increased income for shareholders to pay their electric bill. SEPARATELY, a dividend increase was predictable just by looking at the calendar. I am aware that the BoD as a whole approves dividends rather than just Cooks or Carls or calendars.

  • When To Sell Your Apple Shares  [View article]
I think Tim Cook only increased the dividend to satisfy Icahn, but he can't state that publicly. Since when do AAPL investors "need" income? Everyone knew the dividend would be increased...just look at the timetable...the dividend is going to be increased every 4 quarters like clockwork, regardless of the share price. Does anyone actually believe they would simply maintain (or reduce) the div?

The company should spell it healTHCare (with the THC in caps)

If I were both a doctor and a lawyer I could make some sense of the report, but I'm not, so PFE is just a dividend play for me. I don't own it for expectations of growth or some sort of miracle pill.

  • American Airlines Group: As The Integration Continues, Solid Upside Ahead  [View article]
AAL's P/E for the Most Recent Quarter is 2.25, compared to 11.05 for DAL. The new AAL has only been operating for about 6 months so any TTM data is questionable. It was my understanding that AAL is just the holding company for 2 separate airlines. The analysts opinions I have access to are extremely mixed. I think the sell ratings are based on models that have bad data. I think they are trying to compare apples to oranges, but the oranges are actually tangerines.

According to a 4/29 Reuters article Venezuela keeps every cent (or bolivar or euro) its citizens pay for airfares to AAL and 23 other carriers. The airlines have not been paid for nearly 2 years. According to the article they pledged to release the money but at an unfair exchange rate. Their pledge is no good. Would you trust Hugo Chavez or his henchmen who manipulate the bolivar? The articles says Venezuela owes $3.9B to the airlines. It has been a month since they pledged to return the money and it was all talk, no action.

You are correct; it's June 30th and the correct wording is "on or after". Somewhere I read that there are over 30 million shares set aside to resolve disputed claims. I can't imagine there is still 1 billions dollars worth of unresolved claims in limbo.
