  • A Closer Look At Buckeye Partners' Distributable Cash Flow As Of Q4 2013 [View article]
Stick to the Toll Roads of Pipeline/Midstream, MLPs. You do an Excellent Job with a great accounting model. Try to do everything and you'll do nothing well is the old adage. With increasing Oil and Gas production and future large increases in exporting we need you watching and reporting on the Toll collectors. Thanks for helping me see some accounting schemes I don't like.

  • Phillips 66 Currently Overvalued Compared To Its Peers [View article]
PSX is also sole General Partner PSXP and controlling General Partner of DCP which gives PSX the ability to cause the sale of new shares in either MLP to purchase (drop down) any asset they want to monetize, negotiate the fees for the drop down and take back a percentage in their IDR. They're sitting in an ideal spot for the next 20 years with the MLPs to help finance their growth while they exploit their midstream and processing positions.

  • Office On The iPad - Short-Term Gain, Long-Term Pain [View article]
Bill Gates is credited with saying "If somebody else has it, you give it away ( and put them out of business)" Apples' share of market is dropping on phones, their cash cow. Google's searches on mobiles is dropping. The 8.1 tablets with Intels 4th generation high battery life CPU are hitting the market and are gaining traction . 8.1 Xbox one will hit the market this week. Xbox one is a game changer as its more than a good game player, its Skype, movies, bing and Office on the big screen TV. MS has system engineered an end to end system and Xbox one will establish a beach head in the battle for control for the living room. . MS Office is a cash cow and MS's Moat. MS's share of market or income is growin across the board. Bing is a part of the ecosystem and shouldn't be shed . 8.1 phones are meeting more than anybodys requirements. MS has the cash to cut prices on anywhere they want to push back Google and Apple. Facebook and Yahoo are allies MS for now. Remember Mulally ,the Ford CEO, was brought in by Gates to help Ballmer reorganize. Never forget Gate Is Chairman of the Board.
I've just completed a three month study launched by a passing comment of a top Dell Executive and now am ordering two Dell Venue 8 pros for my grandkids, two Dell Venue 11 Pros for my home office, a Nokia 1020 for my wife and a Nokia Lumina 1520 for myself, and an Xbox one for my vacation home. Note: all the systems I'm buying is multi purpose, user friendly, if not use-seductive, flexible, portable if not mobile and run on 8.1. I'm a retired Program Manager/Engineer who finds and embraces the bleeding edge of development.

  • Preliminary Review Of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners' Results For Q2 2013 [View article]
Good financial analysis but accounting is "account for' and looks back which can bias projections. KMP is the gorilla in the room when it come to pipeline MLPs and is well positioned for the exporting boom with already strong positions in Canada, connections to Mexico, coal terminals and LNG ports. Their future is strong. But KMI is stronger as their IDR rate is 50% of increased distributions. Insider ownership is all in KMI and KMI can cause additional shares to be issued by KMP for debt retirement or new acquisitions diluting the KMP yield at least temporarily. It's a delicate balance and I hold both KMP and KMI and see a strong near term future for both in the export boom that is just beginning.

  • Black Gold Is 'Black And Blue' - Scoop Up Shares Of Phillips 66 [View article]
The proposed EPA regs are less stringent than California and similar to Japan . The main reason CA prices are high is the limited supply from CA refineries that manipulate the price with induced shortages from extended maintenance shut downs and changeovers.

  • Coke's Freestyle Machines Will Help Expand Its Dominance Over Pepsi [View article]
I was in Fudruckers and an employee was getting a drink from the Machine and said it was a $20,000 machine and not worth it. My grandsons liked it and wasted a lot of Soda figuring (playing) it out. They didn't drink any more than usual and I drank water. Don't really see the increases sales over the old dispensers but I do see a lot more waste and free refills.

  • Figures showing Amazon's (AMZN) Kindle Fire on track to beat the iPad (AAPL) in first month sales might mean Apple's tablet has its first true competitor, writes Blake Snow. Price is the Fire's #1 strength, he says, but don't forget its content advantage, free cloud storage, an AppStore that combines the best of Apple and Android, and a smaller size making it easier to hold.  [View news story]
Kindle is priced as a loss leader and will not penetrate the developing market of iPad future sales which will ultimately drive consumer sales.
Businesses and Governments are buying iPads by the thousands for executives, order entry and replacing notebook computers. Schools and students are buying thousands for viewing lectures at home, homework, classroom exercises, tests, taking notes, and electronic texts. My daughter in law replaced her Kindle with an IPad last year to share.
