  • The 'Can't Miss' Trade On Pandora [View article]
First of all, as soon as you say "can't miss" trade, you know it's going to miss.

And it definitely can miss and probably will miss. Your timeframe of three months is very short. Your Sept $24 straddle probably cost you more than $6.

So you need P to go over $30 or under $18 by Sept expiration just to break even. To double your money - what someone might expect on a successful (or Can't miss) option trade, you need P to go over $36 or under $12.

Hey - miracles happen. Good luck!

  • All eyes on Amazon Prime [View news story]
JohnBinTN - if you look at the item you are using as an example:

you will see "4 new from $50.99". Click on this and you will see that the $54.99 item (Prime) is available from the same vendor (CableTVAmps) for $50.99 + $5.50 shipping or $56.49. This is $1.50 more expensive than the Amazon with Prime price but illustrates how Amazon actually jacks up the Prime price to cover some if not all of the costs of the free shipping and is not really saving buyers $6-$8 per shipment.

And in many cases the price (including shipping) from a non-Prime vendor is the same or even less than from Amazon with Prime.

On this basis, you can see that it takes a lot of orders for the "free" shipping to make up for the cost of Prime - probably at least 50 orders per year at the current $79 charge.

  • All eyes on Amazon Prime [View news story]
Bingo! Almost everything on Amazon can be bought from another Amazon vendor (including shipping) at a price that is the same as the Amazon (with Prime) price.

So a buyer is not saving $6 per shipment to justify the price of Prime. Amazon just makes it look that way.

IMO, raising the price of Prime will backfire for Amazon.

Apple users are significantly better than Android users? Obviously, just another Apple fanboy snob.

  • A leaked image appears to provide full specs for the BlackBerry A10 (BBRY -1.8%): the image indicates the A10 will sport Qualcomm's (QCOM) dual-core MSM8960 processor (same as the Z10), a 5" 720p display (many high-end Android phones now have 1080p displays), 16GB of storage, and an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. BGR provided a few details about the A10 last week, while adding it's the only completely new BB10 phone set to launch in the remainder of 2013. [View news story]
You don't send 41MP images - the camera also produces a 5MP version of the picture - and this can be a zoom-in of the original 41MP picture.

  • More on BlackBerry's (BBRY +2.7%) annual meeting: Thorsten Heins responded to a question about exploring licensing deals by saying BlackBerry will "pursue every opportunity to create value for shareholders." But he also insisted BlackBerry "must create value" before strategic options are considered. Heins disagreed with a shareholder who called the U.S. Z10 launch "a disaster," and blamed disappointing sales on partner efforts (previous). "I talked to staff at many points of sales and they were inadequately trained or not trained at all … marketing materials were missing." [View news story]
Sure does sound like PALM. Every time sales were reported as being lower than expected, they blamed the carrier salespeople - either not trained or biased against PALM.

Hope it BBRY doesn't end up like PALM.

  • Nokia's Growing Threat To Apple And Samsung [View article]
<< Nokia EOS 41 Megapixel smart-cameraphone, which has a physical shutter and optical zoom. >>

EOS has never been specified with optical zoom. The 41 Mpix sensor allows it to achieve reasonable resolution photos using digital zoom of 4x - 5x. Samsung supposedly will be announcing an S4 variant this month with a 16Mpix sensor AND 10x optical zoom.

<< Nokia was also the first smartphone maker to offer out-of-the-box wireless charging >>

Have you forgotten the PALM Pre?
