ISM Commodities Survey Shows Likelihood of Up-tick in Inflation [View article]
Commodity prices are a much better indication of cost in the economy than untrusworthy government numbers. Even if you prefer to believe the intent is to honestly derive the official CPI, you ask yourself is it even possible especially for government to deal with a mega chore. Most of us who look at our everyday cost carefully have been unable to reconcile the offical numbers with the goverment's. I was thinking when looking at my new shirt if the the CPI prepareers noticed that my $27 shirt no longer has a pocket for my pencil. Did they adjust for the cheaper product delivered as they do for the fantasy improvements supposedly so ubiquitous but I'm sure they factored in that I now wear my old shirts longer so buy less at the increased price. If I would live like a cave man, then there would never be a price increase since you would evenually quit buying everything and save 100%. V.Van Walleghem
