Flowers Foods (
) and Mexico's Grupo Bimbo are reportedly set to be the
stalking horse bidders
for Hostess Brands' bread ops, which the bankrupt company is likely to sell in at least two groups and which could fetch over $350M. Other possible suitors include Wal-Mart (
) and Kroger (
). Wonder Bread, Nature's Pride, Home Pride, Merita and Butternut are among the brands on offer.

I think Flowers should let BIMBO buy it, and that way they can add to thier already extensive line of products that are failing. Some of the Hostess Brands were doing ok, but over the last few years they cut back on quality. It seems the only way BIMBO can sell anything is to discount it deeply. The customer gets used to that sale pricing and thats what they come to expect. Isnt that what got Hostess into trouble too? Also in my area BIMBO tried to break their label into my market , and they couldnt sell it labeled Bimbo. Also it has been on sale from day one. So much for buying American. Buy Bimbo instead since the company is based in Mexico.
