    Thanks, good interview.

First thing that I noticed was that Ms Rometty mentioned "security" numerous times. They get it.

Their enthusiasm could sell ice to Eskimos!

"There is a good CNBC interview with Tim Cook and IBM CEO Virginia Rometty discussing the union of the two companies and what they hope to accomplish.

A number of times they pointed to the iPhone and iPad apps utilizing IBM's cloud and data analytics servers and services.

The interviewer then asks for an example application, and at minute marker 6:50, Tim & Virginia describe at a high level an airlines application for pilots that utilize IBM big data analytics for things like calculating fuel needs, etc. They also mentioned vertical apps for retail, insurance, and banking.

Depends on if it's approved by the FAA. I do not think that BBRY is approved but I'm not sure.

I know that there is a testing procedure involving both hardware and software that includes rapid decompression. The FAA's AC No: 120-76B is a 39 page document that goes into some detail if you care to read.

iPad was the first FAA approved device for use in the cockpit in 2011. As far as I know United uses the iPad and Delta uses the Surface 2.

The US Air Force bought 18,000 locked down iPads. Here's a video showing them being used in flight:

My gut feeling is that the biggest obstacle that BBRY would have is the software. As of 2012 there were no software programs for BBRY in the cockpit.

98% of Fortune 500's disagree with you. Surely they must have thought of that...

A large part of security is in the initial setup and ongoing maintenance.

The whole point is that the FAA and the airlines have deemed the iPad reliable and secure enough to replace paper NAVIGATIONAL charts in airliners.

This is the first time in the history of aviation that that an airliner can fly without paper NAVIGATIONAL charts. AA replaced all of their paper NAVIGATIONAL charts in 2013, so next time you're flying with them feel safe and secure that they are using iPads to NAVIGATE in the cockpit.

BBRY CANNOT be used in the cockpit as a replacement for paper NAVIGATIONAL charts. If the BBRY longs feel that AAPL is not reliable or secure, they are wrong.

    AAPL can lock them down.

Don't thank them for making fools of themselves.

The FAA allows the use of the iPad to replace the paper charts that are mandated to be carried on every single flight. Without those charts you can't navigate.

    Understood?

So you can fly an IFR approach without your charts? Good luck navigating to your IAF......

Try flying an IFR approach without your charts and let me know how well that works for you.

Author’s reply » @JMajoris, LOL you clearly have never been inside a cockpit (I'm not buying your profile picture). Pilots use their iPads as a substitute for paper manuals. iPads don't do anything for flying a jet. "

Because you'll be a multi millionaire by the time that you retire, be able to easily live off of all the dividends, and leave a fortune to your kids thereby protecting your family long after you are gone.

Your kids will hang your photo over the dining room table and thank you in prayer before Sunday's family meal. Grand kids will want to grow up and be just like you and on this planet of horrible people you will have positively contributed to a better world.

    Easy peasy ;-)
