  • Tesla Vs. Renault: Low Cost, Not High Cost, Is The Future. [View article]
One thing to consider is that the Model S appeals to more than just people who usually buy a Benz or BMW. Refer to article, people who buy Tesla also own cars that are priced way below the price of a Model S thus showing that people are willing to stretch for a Tesla but not a Benz or BMW. The addressable market for a Model S is much larger than one would assume.

  • Tesla And Texas: A Solid Plan For The Gigafactory [View article]
Rick Perry's term ends on Jan 20, 2015 and the Texas legislature will only reconvene in Jan 2015. Not enough time to get a bill passed. Without Special Session, Tesla might as well negotiate with the most likely future governor.

Rick not running for reelection = no need for auto dealer money, that's why he can go on Fox Business and say what he said but Texas.

Why would Tesla use port of Houston since assembly is still in Fremont.

Big issue is access to rail since raw materials and finished batteries would need to use it. Texas is the farthest of the 4 states to the Fremont factory.

  • The Birth Of The Lithium Millionaires [View article]
Free markets only work when all costs are included. Right now the environmental impacts of emissions are not included in the cost of fossil fuels (at least not here in the US). Using fossil fuels is another example of privatizing the gains and socializing the costs. Every time someone steps on the gas peddle only that person benefits from the the use of the fossil fuel while everyone is harmed by the additional CO2 in the air. As long as the environmental impact is priced in to the price of carbon then free markets can work.
