  • Date And Time Is Set For Athersys Phase II Stroke Presentation [View article]
Another disturbing trend is the management trying to put a positive spin to trial failures.

If I'm not amiss, a similar spin was played over UC trials. Reg UC - though the management indicated that they are hopeful and looking to evaluate larger dosage/longer term data (beyond the 16 week - which they placed the blame on Pfizer), nothing has been published on that any further.

I wouldn't put any significance to Gil's comments on 36 hour and lesser efficacy data for stoke patients receiving multistem.

Sorry to all longs, not a good ending to a cinderella story. :-(

I wish I hadn't dipped in yesterday, but hey, that's the nature of gambling with binary events. I'll walk away with 1K loss.

Those who can, MUST salvage any money out of this ASAP. There isn't any near term catalysts, at least not something I'm aware of, WST can chime in on this. At best this is going to range trading in the sub/lower $1's.

    Good luck to all!

Well, interesting price action today - not sure what it triggering this huge sell off, or is it just plain old manipulation.

I'm out of this completely...net even-steven...but have been closely following along due to my long history of holding positions on this. I hope this turns out to be a great winner when the results are announced this weekend in Glasgow.

    WST,
At this outset, I'd like to thank you for your informative articles and continued coverage. You seriously do deserve lot of credit and the reason I say this is because there was another author - biostockelite, who pulled a con act after the UC trial results...left a bad taste in my mouth. You are officially the only SA author providing coverage and patiently answering any question thrown at you - even those that are plain stupid/inflammatory (gosh NWBio investor...)

Thank you and good luck to you all!

(oh, btw, I just bought a small position in May 1.5 option call). So I do have some skin in the game now :-)

Thanks Esekla. I think some kind of positive news about INVN is long due, good to know about the upgrade! Well..."analyst" ratings change as the wind blows...but it is good to know that their thinking is in line with your reasoning as well.

It is just sad to see INVN consistently being manipulated. Ever since the earnings letdown late last year in November, shorts or whoever have made sure this is range trading between $14 - $17 and pretty much hasn't participated in any sort of tech rally.

Esekla, what sort of news (outside of out of the blue acquisition) do you think would move the needle on this one?

  • GasLog: LNG Still Viable Despite Low Oil Price [View article]
    Hi Casey,
Are you able to comment on the $1.9b debt burden on GLOG? It seems excessive to a company that sports a market cap of $1.6b...making it highly leveraged.

For e.g. in 2011 - interest outflows were $4 m against operating cash flow of $27 m - translating to 15%. While in 2014, it was $64 m against $148 m - which equates to roughly 44% of operating cash flow due in interest payment. My immediate concern here is cash flow is not growing at a fast enough pace to offset interest burden from debt on book.

I agree with your moot points on LNG demand globally. But with oil prices in the $40/$50's range and a wide variety of pundits that do not expect any substantial recovery even until 2017, how does your thesis play out in terms of cost advantage?

    Thanks!

  • It's A Good Time To Accumulate GasLog [View article]
Thanks for the article. When I looked up GLOG's financial data, for FY 2014, the operating cash flow was $148 m - not $213 m as you have stated in your article.

Yes, interest coverage is possible as of today, but you have discounted meaningful increase in interest outflows as well. For e.g. in 2011 - interest outflows were $4 m against operating cash flow of $27 m - translating to 15%. While in 2014, it was $64 m against $148 m - which equates to roughly 44% of op cash flow due in interest payment. Are you able to comment on debt maturities and expected interest payments against cash flow for 2015?

    Thanks!

  • Athersys Could Benefit Immensely From Japan Reimbursement On Stroke [View article]
I'm sure I'm not the only one surprised by the partnership prior to phase 2 results.

Wouldn't athx be in a much better leverage position if +ve results are demonstrated? Or is this the case of Gil & co management making a smart business move to take anything that comes their way?? So $10M is guaranteed irrespective of the nature of the results right?

I can't help but draw parallel to the UC Pfizer deal...i.e. not in terms of agreement details, but minimizing athersys expense by receiving upfront payment.

Ofcourse, this is me, seeing the glass half empty...it is a great news when a company announces partnership before results..holy cow!

Either ways, it is hard to come to any conclusion about the science by this partnership, it is just plain smart business move by Gil and co.

WST, lol, I doubt you would find him here anymore. He was already sulking in a corner even before this news, but well, who knows...

Anyways, waiting to digest more info on the Chugai partnership...

  • Wesco Aircraft Appoints Famed Value Investor To Its Board [View article]
This is a very powerful validation of the investment thesis. Being on board gives a much higher degree of visibility and influence into strategic decisions made at Wesco. Yes, Tom Bancroft was a major shareholder before...but according to me this is just great positive step for Wesco righting the ship to extract synergy from acquisitions.

Thanks for bringing this to light! Keep up the great work!

Well, depends. Bio's are not governed by fundamentals, but future promise. If you like what you have researched on ATHX, go ahead buy because sky could be the limit. Otherwise, sit on the sidelines, wait for stroke trial results and then reconsider your strategy.
