I am a retired clinical psychologist, and administrator and owner of a rehabilitation clinic we founded 40 years ago. For over 55 years I have managed several portfolios composed of investments accumulated over our professional careers. Since the financial crisis of 2008, I have employed specialized, customized dividend growth strategies aimed at enhancing and growing a dividend income stream.
Since December 24, 2014, I have demonstrated on Seeking Alpha the ongoing construction and portfolio management of the Fill-The-Gap Portfolio aimed at highlighting strategies investors may utilize to close the gap between an average Social Security benefit and the much greater costs faced in retirement.
This portfolio has outperformed all of the broad market indexes by a very wide margin, growing dividend income and total portfolio value consistently while the broader indexes struggle in negative territory all year.
Aside from free articles available to the general public, additional early-access, value-added ideas and deep-dive articles are offered to paid subscribers on my premium SA platform, "Retirement: One Dividend At A Time"
Let me show you how to build and grow your portfolio and dividend income, step by step, towards a comfortable and secure retirement.

My interest in investing really started in 2008 when I retired from a career that started as a scientist, having earned a Ph.D in Materials Science from Northwestern University in 1977 and ended up as a business Unit General Manager for part of Siemens. I have brought my analytical skills to investing and hope to share them with Seeking Alpha readers. I am a part time investor and use income from my investments to support my retirement. I have also recently published a novel, I Am Avhor, a fast paced SciFi novel, available at all fine online retailers. It won't improve your investments but you will enjoy it.
I share my experiences (good and bad) in trading stocks and results of thousands of trading simulations in my books. My primary book is Complete The Art of Investing (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AASN2GA).
My blog is http://tonyp4idea.blogspot.com.
Retired early from IT and work full-time in investing. Develop strategies to trade. It is my passion to check out why some strategies work and why some only work in certain market conditions.

I hold a BS in Chemical Engineering and have 31+ years of experience in high tech manufacturing of communications equipment as a process engineer, an engineering manager, and a factory manager. I have traveled extensively in Asia working with various parts of the supply chain. I believe in going long with the best companies, dividend growth, and carefully planned diversification. I do not believe in panic selling or over enthusiastic buying, but I will allow a small percentage of my portfolio to take a risk from time to time. I also believe that a judicious use of options can fit in with a conservative strategy.

On October 31st, 2014, I retired. Turned in the keys to the company car, gave them my computer and my account lists and joined the ranks of those who "slipped off into the sunset." I never thought in retirement that I would be this busy. It's fun. Time with the grandkids, time to perfect my cooking skills, and time to travel and check off the things on my bucket list. I should have done this a long time ago.

I am Swiss and living in Zurich. I studied Microtechnics at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and Business Administration at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. After the studies in 1989 I founded Labocontrol AG. This company was sold to the US company Digital Now Inc. where I continued to work as a chief scientist.
Since 13 years I have my own software company Colour-Science.com which develops algorithms for digital image processing. These algorithms do things like image enhancement, red eye removal or pattern (face) detection. My passion however was always to search for pattern in financial data and then develop and back test rule based investment strategies.
