I'm afraid I have to comment on this comment. How about spell check and grammar check? I have to wonder who would post a comment with so many mistakes? Not very professional. Kind of defeats the purpose of having others learn from one's comments.

    IT,
I had been comparing BDCs with REITs for a while last year. My timing might have been off, but as the share prices moved down I realized the dividend yields were a sucker bet (for me). I am sticking with REITs.

I did the same. MO had gone up 50% since I bought it and I sold a third to bring it back down to my base amount and now have more seed money to redeploy. That is my comfort level, so it works for me. 2 and a half years to retirement!

To use the rollover method (from traditional to Roth IRAs,) is it correct that you must rollover the entire account? I think a partial rollover was allowed a few years ago, but I think that option has lapsed. If that is the case, you must be funding a new traditional IRA each year and rolling over the entire account. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Can someone please explain the interest in Taiwan? My understanding is that it was never part of China, and only became an issue when Chiang Kai-shek and his followers sought refuge from the advance of the People's Army. I guess China just wants to add to its territory??

Thanks for the info. I'll have to go have a talk with my Scottrade people, because they gave me the impression the trade would not be on the Toronto exchange.

One of the drawbacks of using Scottrade is no foreign exchanges (at least at internet prices.) I've had to pass up more than a few ideas because of that limitation.

I have been stuck with low volume stocks before. I have made the decision to avoid that kind of investment in the future. Liquidity is a major asset in my investment choices. If you have a long enough time horizon, be my guest. Appreciate the comment.

As an airline pilot, it is my job to go to the correct airport. We ask the non-flying pilot (pilot monitoring) to input the approach data and set-up the radios and instruments as needed. Then, we give control to the other pilot and brief him/her on all the pertinent info. It sounds like a few steps were missed in this case.

BTW, Southwest has a culture that provides for more instruction as opposed to termination...except for the incident in La Guardia...that was over the top, even for Southwest!

How about GM paying off that $10.5B loss. Why should the taxpayers eat that bill?
