  • New Home Sales: The Raw Data [View article]
In 2007, 2008, EHS (value and volume) went up from Jan to May/June/July and then fell precipitously during the Aug. to Dec. time frame.

I predict 2009 will do much the same given the new new crisis in Prime ARM resets and the record numbers (additions) of pre- and forcelosure filings in Q1 2009.

Why all the hullabaloo about a minor uptick from Mar.09 to April 09? Perhaps more of the authors should practice some disclosure on where they stand on their mortgages!!!! Seems that's the rule/law for stock advise, why not housing advise.

Disclosure: I rent in Los Angeles and have no intention of buying a house or buying the hype of a housing recovery in 09. Will reconsider my position in Nov. 2010.

  • Low Interest Rates Fail to Boost Home Sales [View article]
Someone who found their dream home, in their price range, in their favourite neighborhood who planned to stay in it for the next 10 years might buy in this market. You're talking about housing speculation which for all intents and purposes is over, its back to basics.

A family of 4 should not day trade on their housing search. Think of it this way, if the value temporarily goes down 100k then your property taxes should drop too. If you're in California you can then reset lower for the future due to Prop 13.

Don't forget that CTIA is being held in San Francisco from Sept. 10th to 12th. The timing of Apple's announcement might be intended to aim the iPhone at either the Enterprise side or gaming side of this important Cellular Industry meeting.

  • Cellphone Showdown: Meet the GPhone [View article]
In Q1 2008, according to Gartner, Nokia sold 14.6m smartphones and clearly holds the number 1 spot. The next closest was RIMM with 4.3m units. - Source: Gartner via Washington Post

To leave Nokia and the Symbian platform out of your report clearly negates any credibility here.
