  • KBR wins FERC FEED contract for Gulf LNG Liquefaction project [View news story]
One would hope that given the current political climate with Russia and our EU allies, the US could be the best opportunity to become the #1 LNG supplier to our allies.

  • SandRidge Mississippian Trust I: A Gamble, Not An Investment [View article]
Since you give no basis for your $.10 per share prognostication, we can only assume it is a SWAG (standard wild-ass guess).
Apparently you want to play "What If's".

What happens when Obama approves shipping US energy abroad?
    Would energy prices soar?
    The answer is: YES.
So even if production were to decrease as you are predicting, with an offsetting of higher prices due to exports, the likelihood of $.25 per share is far greater than $.10 per share...and as rajprasad (below) points out, the liklihood of as increase in share price is far greater than a total collapse in dividend payments.
    I am long SDT.

  • SandRidge Mississippian Trust I: A Gamble, Not An Investment [View article]
As I have stated previously, SDT should not be viewed as an investment, butshould be viewed as an annuity.
If treated as an annuity, you would see the ROI between now (2014) and March of 2030 when the Trust terminates, will greatly exceed the investment of $6-8 dollars per share.
For arguments sake, assuming approximately 60 quarters left until the Trust terminates with an average (over 60 quarters remaining) of $.25 per share per quarter -- provides you with a 60 quarter return of $15.00. Not bad for an annuity.
SDT is not for everyone, but for annuity investors, it can be a good bet.

  • Kinder Morgan: Is The Trans Mountain Pipeline Becoming The New Keystone? [View article]
Hhmiles -- When you alter the debate to include Fox News and Kinder, need you be reminded that Fox News has more true Democrats on its programs in a single day (fair and balanced news) than MSDNC has Republicans on in a month. As for Kinder Morgan, the SEC requires their public relations and financial statements to be accurate to a fault (as with all US registered/traded stocks) - no deliberately misleading information.
What irks us capitalists (those of us who believe in America & the American dream of hard work and diligence to get ahead) is when we get fed half truths and leftist propaganda as though it were factual news in an attempt to move forward with a political agenda -- hence, "MSDNC".

When have any of the MSNBC broadcasters done a full autopsy of Solyndra and how much that cost the American taxpayer -- or when has MSNBC done an environmental impact on the millions of birds that Wind farms are killing around the world (he asked rhetorically)?
Sensationalism Masquerading As Journalism (SMAG - again, thank you to JJJRS) is far too prevalent and causes inaccurate information being put out over the airwaves to the masses -- and impacting the companies with which we are investing.

In my lifetime I have found very educated individuals with many degrees who (by virtue of their sheepskins) believe themselves to be experts on every subject -- when the reality is they do not have the common sense to keep their mouths shut when they do not have the facts (or simply choose to ignore them). My issue is not with any one individual, it is with the perversion of facts and the truth.

Albert -- thank you for the informative and stimulating article -- the opinions expressed in this comment and my original response are strictly my own. However, from the other responses to your article, it appears as though I have company. What is sad is that CNBC and MSNBC are owned by the same media organization. CNBC has been a solid source of accurate financial reporting for 25 years, while MSNBC has degenerated to Sensationalism Masquerading As Journalism (SMAG - thank you to JJJRS).

  • Kinder Morgan: Is The Trans Mountain Pipeline Becoming The New Keystone? [View article]
Rachel Maddow is a left wing reactionary who is one of Obama's lap dogs (no offense intended to lap dogs) -- so what did you expect (he asked rhetorically).
The far left's agenda continues to be "go green at any cost" (costs to be absorbed by the average American, that is). The simple fact of the matter is fossil fuels are going to be with us for the foreseeable future -- because "green energy" is not yet available to replace it.
Also, what the far left environmentalists are doing, with a major assist from the media, is NOT providing the American public with the truth -- such as, it costs far more and "dirties" the environment far more to ship oil by train than by pipeline.
Simple fact - Kinder Morgan is a long time responsible American corporate citizen.

  • SandRidge Mississippian Trust II: Don't Get Caught When The Music Stops [View article]
Let me try to put my opinion into layman's terms.
Before investing in this stock, or any of the oil trusts, my recommendation is to treat it as an annuity, not a dividend producing stock.
You should recover your initial investment principle over the life of the trust, along with a very modest percentage profit.
These are not traditional "buy and hold" stocks which grow over time -- just the opposite.
The longer these oil trust stocks are held, the less value they have.
If you doubt this, read the prospectus.

  • Augusta Resource responds to earlier "inaccurate" release on EPA letter [View news story]
While ecology and saving the environment are very important, those to revert to lies and deliberate misrepresentations only harm their cause. Let us not forget that human life is the most important -- and we need a strong and vibrant economy to sustain that human life.
I love the mountains and scenic beauty.
I also love the strong economy and jobs that AZC would bring.
There is always a better solution than lying.

  • Magnum Hunter Resources Management Discusses Q1 2013 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
    Form 10Q goes through March 31, 2013.
I did not see any mention of dividends payable in the three 8-K's filed in July 2013.
And I do not see any specific statements in this transcript regarding payment of dividends.
OK - I confess, my eyes are getting old(er).
We agree that Gary Evans appears to be saying that he would like to redeen Series C preferred stock sooner than later, but I cannot find the September 3 dividends payable statement in this transcript.
    Could you please "show me".

  • Selling These Eagle Ford Properties For $2 Billion Is A Highly Unrealistic Scenario [View article]
I've said it before and I'll say it again, in my opinion MHR is playing a shell game with shareholder money. Their "accounting practices" have caused extraordinary scrutiny by both U.S. and Canadian stock exchanges -- not to mention the fact MHR has NOT paid preferred shareholders their monthly dividends for several months.
MHR is performing so badly that even major shareholders and "white nights" are steering clear of this company.
Have you noticed that their Public Relations officer is not issuing positive updates?

Thank you for your favorable comments.
MHR's CEO appeared on Cramer earlier this year and really sold the company -- so much so that Cramer "endorsed" MHR.
I find MHR's management disingenuous and downright deceptive -- they had to know what was going on when they appeared on CNBC, yet made no mention of their fiscal problems.
I, also, have tried to get their Investor Relations staff to provide some answers regarding payment of preferred dividends, but they refuse to provide an honest answer.....Could we be going down the path with another SD - which was accused of having both management and a board that was looking out for themselves and not their shareholders? I hope not, but in my opinion, MHR does not appear to be at all concerned with their shareholders.

Check their available financials -- there appears to be a reason the IPO was priced at the low end. I will wait until DOC is below $10.00 to dip in. However, I wish them luck !!!!
