Coeur d'Alene Mines: Some Risk, But Big Reward Is Possible [View article]
When did CDE buy a mine in Bolivia? MayaScribe, (above), is correct - any mine in Bolivia is seriously subject to nationalization. Bolivia's Presidente - Morales is another Castroite and could very possibly follow Venezuala's example of nationalizing industry. I use to own Apex Mines when they owned San Cristobal -- supposedly the richest potential Silver mine on Earth. Then Morales was inaugurated wearing a Coca leaf necklace and I got out at the first opportunity. Now Apex is worth Zero.

To the first 3 Posts; If the gov'ment wasn't so intent on propping up this dying economy, your AG would put you in the uber-rich category. Unfortunately, tyrants are in control of our gov'ment and they will suppress AU and AG forever - if they can get away with it.
Here's Why I Changed My Position on the Bank Bailout [View article]
We are being raped by the "ubermenschen" big banks and are expected to endorse the rapists? The peoples of the world had a glimmer of hope of seeing the big banks die, (and therefore attain a measure of true freedom). But now the big banks have a firm presence in China - and the Chicoms will not let the banks fail as they will face massive social unrest because the banks are clever enough to make sure that the population will suffer bigtime if the banks are not supported. If an individual wants to sells his freedom for a monetary gain, so be it. But not this person.
Gold Investors - It takes some willpower to stay with Gold as an investment. Every time it starts to take off, the Fed pulls another "fast one" on the rest of the world and brings real money, (AKA Gold), back down. But eventually they will run out of ways to fool the public as to what has real value - and then Gold will skyrocket! The Fed can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time, but they can't fool ALL the people ALL of the time.
Re: Sakata and Gold Baron; You are both correct, but an investor must compensate for manipulation of the markets which affect the prices and/or usage of Precious Metals by the world's peoples. The world's known reserves of Silver are only a 14 year supply - which is less than Gold, (according to the US Geological Survey). So why is Silver priced at such a pitifully small fraction of Gold? Owning Silver and Gold is a good idea for all investors, but I think owning rolls of clad coins is good for barter in the not-too-distant future How many Americans know Gold/Silver/Platinum from Shinola? Much less a clad quarter from a real Silver quarter.
Investors; As free individual persons we all want solid investments and right now Gold fits that profile nicely. So the GLD ETF has over 1000 tons of Gold. However, this is a threat to Big Brother in their fight against 'individualism'. So now that humongous pile of Gold is easily accessible to the Fed and will be nationalized for the good of the country.
ANY investor who criticizes another for selling an investment for a 20+% annualized gain, ( for an extended time span), is way off-base. Yes we are in for severe inflation, (M3 up over 75% in 2008). However, four facts deserve consideration: 1) Where does GLD get its gold; 2)Do they have any real gold, (not just paper gold): does the bank holding that gold place the investor's interests higher than the Federal Reserve's interest; and 4)Specially in light of the Federal Reserve's war on gold since 1913 - the year the Federal Reserve was born - what makes you think the Fed won't make owning gold illegal again? It has happened before.
Linn, with a yield currently over 20%, is a great stock to hold. ANY stock distributing that amount of cash to shareholders in this market - if they can maintain that yield - is a great stock to buy.

Invvestors and Savers; The main reason for the gov'ment's war on gold and platinum can be summarized in one word: HONESTY. The Federal Reserve. (the absolute dictator over the US gov'ment), will fight to the death to keep the citizens in line, and letting precious metals serve as money would foment HONEST commerce and might lead to independent thought. So just be good little sheeple, bow your heads, and stay on the gov'ment plantation.
No wonder the guvment wants to outlaw guns. Then they can just kick in every one of the doors to our homes - with little risk of personal injury - and take everything we have. Then their conquest is complete.
The three posts before mine seem to think if they go with their "team" - either the Dems or 'Publicans - things will turn out OK. Newsflash: BOTH PARTIES are corrupt and have been stealing US wealth with both hands at least since 1913 - the year the FED took over the US money supply, (with both parties supporting the FED).

An investor is purely speculating by buying these. The S & P 500 was DOWN 2.56% Friday, Sept. 5, 2008 and SDS, (Ultrashort) was also down .43%%. Furthermore, the fund lost $1.61 over the weekend. I have watched my investment in this fund closely and this is not the first time I have been cheated.
