I read years ago on the GW yahoo board that Lynas had design flaws and the engineers weren't happy. I forget the posters name (a woman) but she had contacts in Malaysia.... She said she sold all her Lynas at the time and I guess she was correct.

The whole sector has left me depressed.... I certainly hope someone (any one?) get their act together enough to break the chinese stranglehold on REEs...

I am reminded of the Keystone Kops....

Looks like they are doing something:

Less Common Metals Limited, has successfully produced neodymium metal from oxide using an electrolytic reduction process. LCM ran the new electrolytic cell in full production mode meeting all environmental, health and safety compliance standards.

A second strip casting furnace that was delivered in the first quarter of 2013 was recently installed and is now producing alloy for customer orders.

Chi- your post was about Engdhal's health and board appointment, was it not? And you implied he lied about his health since he was now so busy, did you not?

Your leaps in logic is all that I replied to.

Chi -- that's fine. Great. But your leaps of logic and black helicopters behind every cloud is tiresome. You say : It seems his health is quite good these days with such a busy schedule..... yet the article talks mostly about how JE has resigned from everything and has been appointed to ONE board seat. (that probably meets 2x a year--4 at most) and you draw the conclusion that he is a busy man and somehow has lied about his health. That is my objection. It just gives fuel to the those people that think you are an irrational Great Western hater and just makes you look silly.

You're kidding, right? So Jim takes a board seat and you smell conpiracy? The facts are he announced he was leaving well before the Mora affair. Boards meet what twice a year? He gets paid I would assume to occasionally talk on the phone, look over some documents, give his opinion, and show up at HQ 2x a year.

Good for him. I would like that job.

GREAT WESTERN MINERALS GROUP LAUNCHES COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION WITH RARE EARTH STRIP CASTING FURNACE AT LCM

February 25, 2013 - Saskatoon, Canada: Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. ("GWMG" or the "Company", TSX:V – GWG) is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary Less Common Metals Limited ("LCM") is now in commercial production with its first rare earth alloy strip casting furnace.

LCM has sold and shipped, on a commercial basis, specialty alloys produced by its strip casting furnace to three existing customers. A subsequent order, scheduled for delivery in the 1st Quarter of 2013, was placed by one of the three customers for an increased quantity of alloy.

The second strip casting furnace ordered previously by LCM was fully commissioned in China, as scheduled, in November 2012. It is now in transit to LCM with an estimated arrival time of late Q1 2013. Installation followed by the commissioning of the second furnace is scheduled to commence at LCM early in Q2 2013.

GWMG President and Chief Executive Officer Marc LeVier said, "Achieving commercial production with the new strip casting furnace at LCM is a very important milestone in GWMG’s progress path as we complete one of the items we committed to achieve early in 2013. The new furnaces represent a platform for revenue growth within our business model. The investment that GWMG has made in LCM’s production capacity is indicative of our confidence in the future of the rare earth alloy market. It is equally indicative of the strong level of confidence we have in our internationally respected LCM team led by Managing Director Ian Higgins."

Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. is engaged in becoming an integrated rare earth producer. Its specialty alloys are used in the battery, magnet and aerospace industries. Produced at the Company’s wholly owned subsidiaries Less Common Metals Limited in Ellesmere Port, U.K. and Great Western Technologies Inc. in Troy, Michigan, these alloys contain transition metals including nickel, cobalt, iron and rare earth elements. As part of the Company’s vertical integration strategy, GWMG also holds 100% equity ownership in Rare Earth Extraction Co. Limited, which controls the Steenkampskraal Monazite Mine. In addition to an exploration program at Steenkampskraal, GWMG also holds interests in four rare earth exploration and development properties in North America.

thanks TB. I was never on board with the sale idea. I don't think they have any inte, ntions of selling anything but the other properties in NA. You don't keep ordering ovens for LCM so you can sell them.
It looks like the PEA should be shortly then there will be real info to chew on.
It should be interesting to see where he takes the company...
