  • Thoughts On Using Beta To Pick Dividend Stocks [View article]
    This is very interesting research.
The problem I have with it, is the choice of your "bull" and "bear" periods: the periods are overlapping (typing error maybe ?) and rather short.

What about June 2007-March 2009 as bear period, and March 2009-June 2014 as bull period ?

  • A Simple Investing Plan For Tumultuous Times [View article]
Well, you can do better than that: dollar cost averaging.

Your plan, but buying the index every month, instead of every six months.

And other pundits have figured out that a mix is even better: stocks, bonds, American, foreign...

But your basic idea is correct: don't try to time the market.

  • Time To Get Mad? Really? [View article]
    You showed that:
    > The rise in inequality is a trend that started four
    > decades ago at least and really has nothing to do with the Fed.

I always wonder when I see this graph, if it's really a coincidence that this trend started, when we moved off the gold standard and into a credit based economy.

  • Open Letter To Alexis Tsipras [View article]
    Three things.
    1) The Greek have 112.5 tons of gold reserves, a number you could have found here:

That's about 3.6 billion euros worth of gold. Now compare that with the total outstanding debt, about 320 billion euros.

    2) The Greek are screwed because they can't devalue their money. Putting them back on the gold standard according to your scheme, leads to exactly the same thing: a currency with a fixed exchange rate.

    3) Basically the Greek are in this mess because they are cheaters. They cheated to become a Euro member and profit from the low Euro bond rates. And they cheat when it comes to paying taxes.

  • The Greece Deal: Is This A Coup? [View article]
The Greek gave up their sovereignty in 2001 and again in 2008, when they cheated on the numbers in order to enter and to stay in the Euro.

And when they begged for money in 2010, 2012 and in 2015.

Really, why are you so surprised that the Greek are treated as the misbehaving children that they are ?

  • Some Thoughts On Greece [View article]
Everybody seems to forget that Greece has been cheating on the numbers since 2000. They are in the Euro zone, only because they cooked the numbers.

Where several Eastern European countries suffered to fulfill the criteria, Greece just cheated.

Why let them get away with it yet another time ?

  • A Portfolio Manager's Report From Greece [View article]
    Your own graph contradicts you.
You say: "you will see significant, even robust growth - until about 2000." but your Fred Graph shows that growth continued until 2007 or so.

In other words, it's not the EU that's to blame, but the subprime crisis. Maybe your prejudices about "lazy Greeks" makes you see things ?
