My story is this. I used to be a bond trader/Trustee at US Bank earning sub $40,000 per year(one of Warren Buffett’s favorite investments) and decided that I had had enough of cash flow sheets, StoneTower client bond agreements, whining from fellow employees, stale high-rise cubicles, and a wicked mean boss who eventually will be fired because of her lack of grace. That place drove me insane, the constant plinking away on a computer keyboard for $40,000 a year was not cutting it for me. Meanwhile fortunes were being made and lost in the market everyday! I had to park my car outside of town, walk in everyday, slide my badge, and shuffle into my seat. Many days pounding my head on bathroom breaks because of all the numbers I was running, some made sense and some didn’t. I wanted to branch out and learn how to trade on my own. I wanted to be an entrepreneur. At this time I was 25 years old now since June 4th of 2010 I am 27. I called my friend for weeks who was a 48 year old man that had been trading for 10 years on his own. I saw an opportunity to learn from a professional, but the only thing missing was the capital for both of us to trade. He had had his ups in downs in business and it merited me raising capital as a bona-fide loan with a whopping 26% interest rate tied to it. I started with friends and family and got around $40,000 or $120,000 with leverage in 3 weeks. We were earning money hand over fist and then all of a sudden we started losing after a few months. I discovered that two people with different ideas cannot trade the same account. We went our own ways after several months with a $10,000 loss. I started to make the money back that we or I had lost and then some. I took two accounts that I had started separately from $1200-$7000 in the months of March through June of 2009. I thought I was a genius. Well, the market had gone up, not much genius there. The genius was in the buy and sell decision. At this point I had determined that the market will take you for a ride either way, and my question and fascination was… how does it happen?
