I'm an asset manager at Hebba Alternative Investments with a focus on real assets. In my articles I like to focus on events that affect the macro environment for assets (especially gold and silver), and also introduce readers to different metrics that I believe are under-utilized when assessing investments.
On a more personal note, I'm a firm believer that there can be honesty, morality, and integrity in finance (though its rare) and i'd like to believe that I stick to those principles. Thus I never "pump and dump" stocks, I always list the securities we own, and I take it very seriously when I recommend a company - I do not want to see any investors/readers lose money because of my recommendations.
I'm not always right with recommendations, but investors and readers can know that I always tell the truth (there is no deception) and I eat my own cooking as recommendations are either always owned OR the reason I dont own them is given (usually related to restrictions on stocks I can buy).
Advising people in financial matters is a serious issue and integrity is much more important than money to me, but I do believe both can co-exist. You live with money, but after your death you only have your morality and integrity and thus i've made my choice between the two. A bit philosophical for a bio, but I dont think there's a better way to give investors my background than that.
We offer investors a free weekly email list detailing gold, silver, and general economic markets which you can sign up for at: http://www.communitysynergy.com/subscribe/hebbainvestments_subscribe.html

Senior Portfolio Manager and individual investor who started in high school and has been at it ever since. I have an MBA and have earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. I have worked in the business for over 15 years. My specialties include fixed income closed-end funds for generating income during retirement, micro and small-cap value investing, and macro analysis.
I am an experienced businessman and entrepreneur from an early age. My trajectory went from hauling wheeled carts of printer parts thru the streets of Philly and up cargo elevators. To key managerial roles within the financial industry 'complex'. My Start in the Financial world was in 1998. I've always been told, and have been, a 'thought leader' within my circles since the age of 7. From whiffle ball in the alley to seriously impactful business situations. Executive level Corporate Business Development, Sales Strategies via Key Strategic Relationships, Service Teams. Synergies. Particularly well rounded within the financial sector, from the phones straight up into roles including the most challenging industry topics. I am Degreed within the 'Media Tech' Complex, or 'B&C;Communications, Media, Telco' with a Business Minor specifically focused within these exact 'Communications' sectors. And did a stint in Italy traveling with professors from Temple University to Yale. This was focused around Art & Architcture; History & Printmaking, truly cannot leave that fact out. It has shaped my life to this very day, including post study travels across the world. Living abroad young opens your mind and the characters met along the way are never forgotten. Did it right...
Family runs a 55 year old TPA. This means the most detailed guidance & administration for your 401k plan document itself. The rules and regulations mandated et al. Pension Administration & Record Keeping Services. Our family firm has thrived/survived as an 80% consolidation within the market has dominated these days. Per Example; Ascensus, Paychecks or ADP.
We focus in person, can work nationwide. and seriously at fractional costs compared to anyone else we know of. In fact, we have survived because of this philosophy. Other TPA firms and related professionals send us work! This advanced consulting for smaller Businesses, Owners from doctors to attorneys, landscapers and non profits has certainly influenced my well rounded views of the markets. The cherished SMB plan administration sector. Hundreds if not thousands of business owners and Financial Professionals, Accountants and the IRS, over time. Why? We are a non producing TPA; meaning Advisors seek us out, as their TPA of choice to provide IRS mandates for plan design templates and further guide them with the massive amount of rules and regs, behind the scenes. Meaning, they will have time to seek out more business partners come audit season to advise correctly, ethically and to the letters of law. We can be and often are present at the long sales process to explain the always changing IRS and DOL rules; yet we do not pick investment options. The owner/FA does. No conflicts at all.
Other past work includes help in the designing, build and rolling out of Nationally Sold financial products. Creating and managing revenue generating marketing campaigns, with complete ownership of the related accounts. I have worked with and co-managed wholesalers nationwide, working with the best from all firms imagined. From full firm CE conference calls to executive retreats. Representing our well known Chief Economists, Gerontologists, Actuarial Geniuses, even Celebrities of many stripes for speaking slots at meetings, executive boards, management teams. Yes, the conference and key accounts circuit and 'believe me' all related experiences. I am well traveled, currently residing outside Philadelphia with my incredible family and am a proud father. A passionate musical and media fan, and family. I also play Dejembe and percussion 'in a band' called Mama Mac! She is a multi nominated musician including the Grammy Awards. If you read all of this, thank you. Message me. JBg

I've been contributing to SA since 2011, with a break to join the PRO editorial team from 2013-2015. I got my Series 7 and 63 back in 2000, and watched the dot-com bubble peak and then burst in real time at a small, tech-focused retail brokerage in NYC.
Our Company is engaged in a number of diverse business activities. The Company adheres to strict value investing principles and adopts a long-term, fundamentals based, investment model.
Retired Financial Consultant / Businessman. Began career by developing a chain of 5 retail clothing shops from 1972 - 1984. From 1984 - 2003 I worked with Merrill Lynch and UBS PaineWebber as a full service Financial Consultant to retail investors and small business owners. Held Series 7, Series 8, and Series 63 security licenses. After retirement from Investment business in 2003 I worked as an Arbitrator through FINRA as an Industry Arbitrator for four years.
Now fully retired, I invest only for my own accounts using common stock and at times ETF's as the vehicles of choice. I continue to act as a Consultant to friends, family, and a few clients that I served during my Professional career. I do this at no charge for them so they can feel confident that the advice and counsel I provide isn't tainted by the possibility of financial gain for myself.
My primary interest is in momentum stocks in any sector or industry such as Taser International (TASR), and those that have or are developing disruptive technologies or products such as Shopify (SHOP) and Arch Therapeutics (ARTH).. In addition to those, I also maintain a few core positions meant for long-term holds. These companies run across a broad spectrum of size and risk, companies like Raytheon (RTN) and General Mills (GIS) . I will at times take on a very highly dollar weighted position relative to other holdings and am willing to assume the extreme risk that comes with that approach. That is a personal decision and NOT recommended for others. My primary portfolio normally consists of ten to fifteen positions. I do not normally employ any sort of technical analysis in my due diligence process, nor do I often hold short positions. I don't care for the possibility of unlimited loss that going short presents. I prefer unlimited gain potential by being long.
I employ a strict discipline of using a mental trailing stop-loss system to prevent any one investment from spinning out of control and leading to excessive loss. Note I said a mental stop-loss, not one entered as an order on my broker-dealers books. I set this level at - (20%) based on Fridays closing price. If the price has breached that (20%) level of decline, I sell first thing Monday without question and move on.
Frankly, I don't submit a lot of articles for publication. So should you choose to follow me don't expect a lot of things to show up your inbox. I welcome all comments and questions about any topic regarding investing you might wish to ask. If I don't know, I'll say so. If I do have an opinion I'll offer it for your consideration.
Disclosure: As of July 7, 2016 I was long SHOP, ARTH, GIS and RTN. I may or may not still hold these positions as of the date you are reading this. I am not recommending them for purchase since much may have changed between the time I wrote this introduction and the time you are reading it.

I am a highly trained professional equity analyst. My specialty is finding companies with excellent ratios of risk to reward. Before going independent, I was the head analyst at a boutique Israeli hedge fund. Today I am a consultant to several multibillion-dollar firms. I have covered many sectors, including technology, solar and semiconductors. I have learned to connect the dots and discern how forces in these various industries will affect individual companies. I am a big believer in analyzing investments from the top down. This means identifying themes and trends that can reveal where industries and individual companies will be in the future. There are no magic formulas for this process, just a lot of hard work. After I've found a company, analyzed it and concluded its value, then it is just like a poker game with endless cards. All we have to do is sit and wait for the next card to reveal itself and adjust our thesis accordingly. Once we find the true value of a company, we must ignore day-to-day market chaos. If we have done our research properly, we do not need to worry if the Dow goes up or down a particular day, week or month. Peter Lynch, Ben Graham and Phillip Fisher are my biggest influences. I encourage anyone who wishes to learn more about the market to read any of their books.

I am a chemical engineer with a MS in Food Technology and Economics. I am also the author of 2 mathematics books ("Arithmetic calculations without a calculator" and "Word Problems") and perform almost all the calculations in my mind, without a calculator, making it easier to make immediate investing decisions among many alternatives. I invest applying fundamental and technical analysis and mainly use options as a tool for both investing and trading. In my spare time, I follow Warren Buffett's principle: "Some men read playboy. I read financial statements".
I'm the author of six published books, an investor, and a cancer survivor. I got my start thirty-two years ago ghost-writing for a UCLA econ. prof who owned a popular stock-picking newsletter. I have been extensively involved in clinical research (consulted with various medical colleges on new technologies) as well as a speaker in post-doctoral continuing ed in the US, UK, and Canada. Right now, I'm re-editing books for publication and writing articles on Seeking Alpha for others who (like me) enjoy doing extensive investment research and profiting from it.
Having always been a learning machine, I speak five languages, have worked as a sales agent, project manager, translator, computer consultant, software engineer, built a house with my own hands, published books and essays on literature, philosophy and art, have written for magazines of various kinds in different countries.
After retiring early in 2004, little by little, I have become a fund manager for some friends and myself, following the principles of value investing laid out by Benjamin Graham, Phil Fisher, Charlie Munger and Warren Buffett. You can read about my thoughts on a suitable portfolio structure for early retirees here.
My articles should not be considered to be any kind of investment advice. What suits me well is not necessarily good for others, as successful investing is somewhat like a marriage: If only one is perfect, the marriage won’t work. So please do your own research and remember Benjamin Graham's advice: “The investor’s chief problem — and even his worst enemy — is likely to be himself.”
I sincerely hope that my readers will ignore the Performance calculations provided by Seeking Alpha (although only to Pro subscribers, I believe). For reasons unknown to me, some of my European stock picks seem to be tracked inaccurately by Seeking Alpha's system. Spin-offs are not included in total return calculations and many of my correction requests didn't receive any answer at all. Moreover, my time frame almost never is as short as only 1 year (the maximum included in Seeking Alpha's table) and personally I consider the 1 year performance of my stock picks to be close to meaningless.
Investment professional and CFA charterholder. I write on Seeking Alpha as a personal hobby and to elicit feedback on specific ideas and topics, help organize my thinking, and connect with intelligent people.
I'm managing editor for SA PRO. I oversee SA PRO (http://seekingalpha.com/pro/) and Marketplace (http://seekingalpha.com/pages/premium_authors) and support in a few other areas on the site. I'm always happy to hear from readers and contributors, whether to help with questions, hear your feedback, or learn how you're using the site. I've been working at SA since September 2012.
I've been investing for 6 years. I used to write articles for Seeking Alpha before becoming an editor (while I'm proud of the work I did, it probably would not have been up to our PRO standards, which is a good thing). I am probably one of SA's most frequent users, and have learned an immense amount from contributors, readers, and SA employees.
Beyond the market, I like reading, travel, writing, playing/writing/listening to music, and learning languages. Probably most relevant to ask me about SA, but you're welcome to get in touch on anything else as well.
