great bargain VOD Jan 2013 option call $20 @ just paid $6.50 for it

(26,50 - 25.82)/(25.82 - 6.50)= 3.5% so it means paying 3.5 % interest on the money for 18 months loan if this is not a bargain what is?

Nice table ,need more work on conclusion and recommendations

wheat and natural gas possible winners with least downside risk knowing they have under-performed ,but note

Foods made with wheat are a major part of the diet for over a third of the world's population , governments wont let the price go up even if production cost shoot up to avoid anarchism ;)

so natural gas seems the only horse likely to win the race

    good luck

  • The Shipping Sector: Value Play or Value Trap? [View article]
Big Trap , oversupply with high probability less demand in the coming future china tanking so supply demand equation is no way near equal

like the housing they kept on building but no one to live in them how long will supply be consumed only god knows same goes for the shipping sector

  • ROIC: Exceptional REIT With Wide and Durable Economic Moat [View article]
what is important management cost of running the REIT business ,compare and pick on lower costs so i guess a ratio of operating costs on cash flow determines best picks ..

.i had KIM for about two years it made good money for me but the sector needs more time and better options out there in such a turbulent environment ,but in say this time next year i will have 30% of my port in global REIT.

ETFs works just fine to avoid picking best management.

off topic why i mentioned its still early to invest in property because people need more time to forget about the global property crash i dont know how long time is required ( i need to research) but i know people in general need about 20 years to forget about major wars ,how about they are on humanity and economy ,and about 7 years on average for greed - fear stock cycle

but in general people are very forgiving

with the debt crisis will people stop using the internet or mobile phone, will people be able to live without VOD service never ,VOD means 371 million customers around the world ,diversified into so many places need full time to study the whole portfolio as someone said buying VOD is like buying telecom ETF.

so the debt crisis in Europe should not have any more negative on VOD price as the company is global and with ipads and iphones selling at records ebooks are going into schools ,telecom companies are even eyeing making money from payments by phone where they will take a percentage of sales transactions , TV channels ,movie rental and other streams of income which will come out in the future or its already out

connections for the cars and soon so the business is not a dying business its one of the best sectors to be in in my opinion.

i came out of TEF another good company because of Spain and the unknown ,and because it is not as diversified as VOD although it has many customers in Latin america.

but at 10% decline from its current price will buy back what i sold and hold for the long term.

  • Gold and Silver Picking up Steam Relative to Stocks [View article]
to simplify gold/silver ratio of 16 gives silver price about $100 and since all metals are above historical highs why should silver remain to test $50 (all time high) like everything else

so it is safe to assume that silver will go beyond its all time high and its very cheap at current price of $37 something.

    long SLV and physical gold

what scares me most about this stock everyone is bullish on VOD's fundamentals and from my experience 90% of the time the concerned issue will go the other way.

fine maybe ordered against VOD by Indian courts read somewhere expected to possibly reach $5 b fine so a quick calculation i see fair value VOD at $25.90 take into consideration $1 per share fine by Indian courts

so the new fair value as of today $24.90

    long VOD , TKC, PTNR

  • Nokia Needs to Fix Its Smartphone Strategy [View article]
just to answer your question a turn around is possible but not with the same management otherwise it wont be a permanent fix to the company.

i wounder what was research and development doing for the company apart from Carl Zeiss which they thought will keep the user satisfied for many years to come anyway credit to a third party for the lens and nothing more all the rest of the technology in thier phones is been done by small companies in Asia

so what did Nokia a market leader have to show for development and research for all these years when they were on top ...not much

creditors and shareholders why they havnt taken action against management for such a bad job of running the business i guess they were sleeping too.

  • Nokia Needs to Fix Its Smartphone Strategy [View article]
management been sleeping for so long now they need to act to save the business ,they need more touch phones less buttons ,software to run the phones like android ,cheaper prices and they cant go wrong ,what they did by going with msft is further reduction in market share and a delay in start by say next year with new line of phones that can compete seriously with what will be available from Samsung and aapl

what im trying to say they didnt pick a quick fix to the loss of market share by going with android and why they havnt got any serious tablet to show after all the company was making lots of money what was research doing ? a good example of bad management ,i have not researched if the same management is running the company now or they have changed few heads .

good example of management turning a good company to near complete destruction and this is what the market price is showing sad.

please your thoughts on management of the company

  • Desperately Seeking Yield Through Equities: Part 7 - Tobacco Stocks [View article]
PM is better buy than MO as less court cases ,and more growth in emerging countries compared with decline in growth in developed countries.having said that both are overvalued and its not a good time to enter the stock ,but as a sector its good no deflation risk and it can be held for the long term.

better P/E in other sectors with similar risk ,its too early to start paying double digit P/E at this stage with so many issues issues unsolved in the world economy.

long global telecom silver ,gold ,and natural gas

    more points

-94% of NYMT' market price was wiped out someone is doing a good job running the company for investors best interest.

    - dividend history is too short to assume one can be paid the same in few years time ,since the company did not care about protecting investors money so why should they care about protecting dividend payments for the same investor.

-based on above i see this as a very high risk and one should not park his hard earned money for longer than a week to speculate on the stock but it is no investment.
