  • Bloomberg: F-35 faces yet more delays due to software issues [View news story]
Are you all telling me spending could be cut from the defense budget?

The more maintenance is deferred, the more that can be returned to shareholders. Ideally, no maintenance is done at all.

  • U.S. has less than three weeks to increase debt cap [View news story]
    DeepValueLover,
Sounds good to me - but then again, I don't work for a defense contractor or a corporation on the receiving end of a subsidy, nor am I in a union. But what about the companies I've invested in (like COP, XOM, F, SWHC to name a few). What would happen to their value - and thus mine? If I'm worth less, I pay less tax, and that helps solve the budget problems in what way?

  • Airbus gets deal for 50 superjumbos [View news story]
Remember the title of the article? If Boeing has to move from WA to be competitive, who are they competing with? Airbus? And where is the A380 built? France? How does Airbus deal with the French unions and still beat Boeing? If unions are such a problem, how has Airbus been so competitive for so long?

  • Boeing launches 777X with deals worth $95B [View news story]
    TAS,
Given your opinion, how does Airbus continue to bedevil Boeing from even more highly unionized France?

  • Boeing Needs To Now Decide Where To Build 777X Dreamliner [View article]
    Hi, Joe
Will those EuroLiners JAL just signed up for be built in non-union Mobile, AL or in heavily-unionized Toulouse, France? My guess is the latter. One must wonder how Airbus has been as successful as they have been competing with Boeing while designing and manufacturing in France, and I hope some of the other commenters will address that issue as well. As an aside, Boeing has already decided that air-shipment of wings from Japan to either Everett or Charleston will be too expensive for 777X production. Nor can I see manufacturing in Japan when most manufacturing has already left there due to high labor cost.

That says a lot for Communist dictatorship and not much at all for Constitutional republicanism. Shall the USA repeal its Constitution and hire a dictator and a Politburo?

  • The Worrying U.S. Path Toward High Inflation [View article]
The corner gas station just lowered prices - again. $4.00/gal for premium couldn't hold, and now it's down $.25/gal from that point. "Right now rising prices can be seen almost everywhere..." I haven't had a raise since 2006. The price of gas is decreasing. Are those nowhere?

"Why should we give Detroit a penny?"

  • Gold: Double Bottom Or Double Trouble? [View article]
Let's see when the USA becomes the world's largest oil exporter whether those exports will be priced in gold or dollars - I'm thinking the latter. As for the rest, I sure hope you're right, as my GLD and SLV shares have cost me a bundle as the PMs have gone up, up, endlessly and inexorably up. How far up did gold go today?
