  • The 4% Plan - A Permanent Income Stream Solution [View article]
I have 25% of my retirement invested in rental real estate in a vacation area. 15% return. How does your 4% rule work during an extended bear market?

  • Emerging Markets Revisited [View article]
You are well educated and adept at emerging markets. I would not have the smarts to trade foreign currencies. I also made a great move into US banks in the 2008-2009 period, buying great banks for $1-$4 dollars. Made about $120K doing that. I recently purchased the Indonesia etf, but with it's 20% move last week, I will be selling that.
    Thanks for the article, Mark

  • Interview With Andres Carbacho-Burgos: Recovery Won't Accelerate Until 2014 When GDP Growth May Nearly Double [View article]
Great article by Henry. Things are improving at a snail's pace. Access to capital by consumers and entrepreneurs is very difficult to obtain.
The government should loosen the restrictions on mortgages to let people refinance. When housing really recovers, the economy will improve. Remember, during the Depression of the 1930's, it took 11 years to work through the inventory of unsold homes. It's a very long process.

  • Could Tesla Go Higher? [View article]
That's looking on the bright side, but I agree there is hug potential to this company, as well as Solar City. Demand from Europe and Asia will be great. Australia is another untapped market. And, it's the only true American automobile company.

  • My Mad Method: What Next To Buy, And Why - August, 2012, Finale [View article]
Good luck trading in and out of the market. It's going to be tough to build your nest egg, with the volatility we're going to experience. I actively managed my portfolio for 30 years, then got fed up trying to beat Mr. Market. I decided to leave the market, and bought a nice home in the Appalachians, which I rent out. I'll get more out of rents than I could ever have done fighting this market.

  • The Case For An Apple Dividend [View article]
The directors of the company prefer to return gains to investors through growth. There is no lack of people willing to purchase AAPL stock, and they have been rewarded well. I see no benefit to paying dividends.

  • Rising Rates Reveal Debt Reality [View article]
Mr. Pento is correct. We soon will be unable to service our debt.
I am betting on a rising yield curve with TBT, an exchange traded fund. The government can monetize their way out of trouble, but cities and states cannot. You'll see big problems there in 2011.

  • A Trojan Horse for VAT? [View article]
    Craig,
The VAT tax is an economic certainty. The government loses 300 billion dollars a year because people do not report, or they under-report their earnings. They cannot afford to lose that much revenue every year.

  • What Three Outsourcing Companies Are Doing to Stay Ahead [View article]
Greedy American companies are glad to outsource IT function just so they can increase the bottom line. And when India is no longer the cheapest source of IT labor, they'll outsource to even cheaper labor.
