respectfully Ford Perfect, the most obvious to even the casual observer who spend a minimal amount of time pondering is that here in earth time 2014, we cannot store enough power from renewable solar/Wind to run your household for more than a day. Obvious conclusion: if the sun doesn't shine and the wind doesn't blow, you cannot charge your car or heat your house without a Fossil fuel power plant somewhere that is on call 24/7 365 days a year.
I'm on your side for alternative energy that powers my wall receptacle, however it's QUITE obvious to me that we aren't there yet, so I wouldn't cut the cord until that reliability we now enjoy is viable from the windmill. To eliminate what we have to chase an imagined emotional common good solution to a problem we don't even have yet seems a lot riskier than I'm ready to experience. If it's so obvious to you and you are ready to take the leap, I wish you well. Kerosene lamps work well, wupps, sorry those are fossil fuel also.

Exxon Mobile reported 105 Billion in sales last quarter, where is it? Where did it go? 105 Billion from one company continued to circulate through the US economy to thousands of suppliers and their employees. Each of those suppliers paid taxes on each transaction and on every dollar of profit that each of those suppliers created.
I continue to hear of the evil energy companies and their sales and profits as if they took it from the people, when in fact they are the are the catalyst and the providers to tens of thousands of US families, not to mention the trillions you mention in taxes that arrive at the US treasury in order to fund the largess of the US government. Wow this isn't complicated, or is it? If you have identified the energy industry as the bad guys then I guess it's easy to blame them for all our problems. I for one am thankful their huge contribution to our lives and fortunes.

The earlier lesson learned from the Kodak experience was that Kodak relied on their political muscle to preclude Fuji from US markets. They accused them of dumping etc... and attempted to get policy makers to punish the Fuji film from US markets instead of meeting the competition with products and price. Didn't work!

Lets say I lease a Tesla with a 12,000 mile use agreement. Each 200 of those miles requires a 30 minute recharge. I am required now to plug my Tesla into a coal fired grid for 3000 hours each year. Just hope I don't need to use the heater or the AC or my range will decrease while my plug time increases. If I'm doing the math right I actually don't have the use of my car for almost 18 weeks a year 7 X 24= 168 hours/3000= 17.8 weeks of tether. Hopefully I will be first in line at the roadside charger.

Our city installed a charger space downtown several months ago, I have yet to see an EV plugged in there, so far the net result is the loss of 1 badly needed DT parking space Praying that we get a Tesla soon, but hopefully no more than 10 which might deprive the city of more parking and increase the pull on our tired grid.

Seems to me that you are attempting to insert verifiable, documented facts into an emotional argument, good luck.

Could we all be confused about Elon's real business plan? Think about it 25,000, 1,000 Lb Tesla batteries that can't be recycled. Now picture a giant battery burial site in EBF Egypt.

John, could you not print off the electronic shares then transfer them to the wall? I would save some wall space for your Tesla shares (I don't have any). The age of coal fired autos just isn't here yet. I must agree with Moon, the Giga battery factory will be obsolete before they break ground.

Great game against Kentucky Patric, now take us to the final 4. JK. Glad to hear some investment firms see some sparklers in the AXPW ashes. Just keeps me hanging on.

Finding those small nuggets that other don't see, is the origin of the "home run," Exactly what I'm trying to see!
