Norman ~Thank-you. I feel good about RTN. This last dividend increase was 10% and I show the 5 year DGR at 16%. That is a pretty good record.
Plus it looks like you are doing very well with your holding which tells me mine should look better down the road.I am glad for your good fortune my friend and hope all is well with you and those you hold close.
Always good to hear from you.

Fredrik...thank-you for the article on the industrial dogs. When RTN raised its dividend I started a position although it didn't meet the Norman Tweed 4% minimum which I also follow.
I read recently that with Korea and Iran pounding their chests the US will increase its missile defenses on both coasts. RTN will be involved in that upgrade.
Like Norman I will look to DRIP and add to RTN on dips. For now it makes a good partner to LMT.
Thank-you again for all the DOG articles. Much appreciated.

  • Dips And Pullbacks: Opportunities Or Sucker Punches? [View article]
    Mike:

Appreciate the reply and that made me look a bit closer at my decision about buying more INTC. "VEX" is a good way to describe INTC. I seem to spend a lot more time reading articles on it then my "core" holdings. I've read what seems to be a lot of rumors from hooking up with AAPL to building their own foundries. The fact that they are looking to be more then a one trick pony is a positive. I just don't trust INTC if that makes sense so I call it a full position verses a core position.
Anyway, one of my criteria for a "full" position is how much I'm getting for an annual dividend total.
IF ~ INTC should raise its quarterly dividend 2 or 3 cents in August, as it has historically, then there is no real reason to add to the position.
Still, it will have to do a lot more before I give it the "core" merit badge.

  • After A 44% Jump, This Turnaround Stock Could See Another Sharp Increase [View article]
    Hey Miz,
As DVK and David Fish say...there are all kinds of investments and all kinds of assets. Some you see on a computer screen while this one you'll be able to touch when you check the pool water to see if it is warm enough.
People say, "It hit my price and I jumped into that stock!"
Miz says, "The water looked great so I jumped in!"
Your choice sounds so much better...don't you think! ;)

  • Dips And Pullbacks: Opportunities Or Sucker Punches? [View article]
    Mike,

Great article and reminds of the saying about you being able to stay in the market longer then the market can stay irrational...or something like that.
In those days it was more how long will the market stay psychotic as it had pushed irrational to the curb a few blocks back without slowing down.
I owned some GE back in those days and when the dividend was pulled I jumped out. There were opportunities to jump back into GE but I tend to hold grudges against companies that do that.
My two latest self-inflicted burns were CTL and CLF.
    Wham-Bam Thank-you Maam!
The good thing was I had small positions in both but it still eats at me. I can forgive (my stupidity) but I won't forget that they still broke into my house.
As far as INTC I bought some more recently and my basis is 21.52.
If INTC drops again into the 19's (hopefully not a sign of the new zombie apocalypse meltdown) I'll grab the remaining shares I need to have a full position. Otherwise, I'll just DRIP and wait.
Always look for your articles...keep 'em coming!

  • Is Mighty Apple Really Falling? [View article]
    Mesmd...well said..very well said.

    >>Mr. Cook stated, "The most important thing to Apple is to make the best products in the world that enrich customers' lives." <<

There is your mission statement for Tim Cook and for AAPL. It is why I own it. Tim Cook was in operations and that makes him a frontline guy that brings a different perspective to the front office where he now resides.
He is no Steve Jobs but he is Tim Cook and both share in a certain disregard for the market and its noise. I like that.

The market was wrong when they priced AAPL's value at $90.00 and they were also wrong when they priced it at $706.00.
The in-between of those two numbers is around $400.00 and I believe the recent low was around $419.00. The market is rarely right at any one time but will eventually get close about a company's valuation at some point.

AAPL is a company and not a individual.
The perception was AAPL is Steve Jobs and vice-versa is by far an incomplete perspective as one can come up with. Yet, short explanations and 4 minute viewpoints are the norm from the talking heads so they are accepted.

"Make the best products to enrich".
Tim Cook never said "the first products", although sometimes it worked out that way. Samsung has heard the iWatch is being worked on and is attempting to get their incarnation to the market first.
    Good luck with that.
I wonder as Samsung gets pushed into the kitchen whether or not they can handle the heat. The new Galaxy has already come under criticism...so how does that feel guys?

Folks...the real reason PBI is going up is because I sold my shares. In the future I will be posting any other positions I sell for your future financial betterment.
BTW...I will also be informing on any positions I buy so that none of my fellow SA folks decide it is a good investment...haha :)
