  • Gilead Sciences: Buy On The Drop? [View article]
You have identified a very important consideration, Bobcat. If employees are effectively working through 3 months of illness, the productivity loss suffered by employers will be significant. If GILD can convince employers that the benefit enjoyed by ES is effectively shouldered by the employer (and the suffering employees), ES will soon feel the pressure to change.

  • Harvoni + Sovaldi scripts in line to hit consensus [View news story]
Because Abbvie knows that the only way it can compete is on price, and because Abbvie will want to sell its product at the highest possible price that allows it to capture market share, the initial price set by Abbvie will likely be the highest possible price they think they can charge and still capture market share. As a result, Abbvie's initial price probably won't be so low as to constitute a "shocker".

  • Why Gilead Is A Better Buy Than AbbVie [View article]
A reasonable assessment rg14. I'd add one consideration -- Because Abbvie knows that the only way it can compete is on price, and because Abbvie will want to sell its product at the highest possible price that allows it to capture market share, we should be prepared for a potentially long process during which the price is periodically adjusted until Abbvie determines the price "sweet spot." As a result, the initial price set by Abbvie will be the highest possible price they think they can charge and still grab market share. Thereafter, Abbvie will be prepared to make successively lower price adjustments until they determine their best possible combination of price and market share.

Respectfully disagree. When it comes to GILD's stock price, its all about sustainability of earnings.

  • Why Gilead Is My Next Apple [View article]
Why is the price point "vulgar and unethical"? I'm not trying to argue, I'm trying to understand the rationale in support of your conclusion. Since first hearing the Sovaldi price complaints I've tried to understand what the price evaluation metrics should be. I don't know how to articulate a rational and consistent "standard." Perhaps you can. If so, I'd be interested to hear it, as it seems to me that the only thing worse than high prices is regulation that damages the kind of investment and risk taking typically associated with great advances.

The author did not express enthusiasm. The author expressed a correlation supported by data. The author did not contrive any statics. If anything was contrived it was the spin you placed on the article, which spin was unwarranted and supported by no facts whatsoever.

The only people who are "kicked out" are those who don't comply with loan terms and conditions they freely agreed to. I feel for anyone who looses their home, but I also fail to see anything wrong with enforcing the terms of lawful agreements.
