  • Dendreon: Who's That Knocking On Their Door? [View article]
    Dear Ted,
Always enjoy your articles but after the quarterly reports today, buyout is the only way I think DNDN can survive. At this point, it's a bit difficult to be bullish. It's leaking all fronts. If it's a successful drug and based on some of teh estimates of PC patients, it's really disappointing. We can talk of bear raids and all that, but DNDN itself has to be blamed for the blood bath. I think it's safe to buy puts before the Qtrly reports. Anyways, a bit frustrated and difficult to understand the bullish stance here.

    Regards,
    S

  • Do Dividend Payouts Reduce Share Prices? [View article]
I am not sure I am convinced..Take teh example of "PT". 05/22/12 was the ex div date. When teh stock openend yesterday, .57 dividend was taken out of the stock price. On 05/21 it closed at 5.20 but opened on 05/22 at 4.55. Teh brokerage showed that it was down .13 but it was down more than that. On checking around I realized the brokerage had shaved the dividend payment from the price. Yahoo and google had the same price and same info. Where I got screwed is that I sold it on 05/22 and got the div but lost on the stock price. My question was how is dividend helpful if it is shaved off the stock price. Any info wouuld be helpful.

I bought the stock on friday at 5.01 and my stop got activated at
4.58 pn 05/22. I got the dividend but did I not loose money on my stock price? So I got .57 dividend on 1 stock but
also lost that much on the stock price. Sorry doesn't make sense how dividend is helpful.
So for my calculation I bought at 5.01 and sold it at 4.58 and got a dividend of .57. So my net gain is .15 per stock.

Look at teh stock price of PT today 05/23/2012. It went ex-div today. It clearly shows that teh price of teh div was taken out of the stock price today.

  • Dendreon: Overall Survival Data For Provenge From 2012 GU Poster [View article]
    Ted,
Not sure why DNDN dropped today. The results seemed to be ok. The future estimates in teh low single digits is not very strong but a 20% drop is a bit overdone. Also, not sure how long it will take to get to the 500 million revenue for it to break even. I think it still has a long ways to go.

  • Dendreon: Overall Survival Data For Provenge From 2012 GU Poster [View article]
    Ted,
With the Qtrl report, I was not sure if $500 m annulized would be met this year. Single digit growth and 20% drops are difficult to digest. It's a rollercoaster ride holding DNDN.

  • My 1st article...don't buy high and sell low!! [View instapost]
Thanks for the note. Quesiton regarding writing calls. So if I understand your blog, you are saying that for stable companies like MSFT and WMT, write "In the money Calls/Puts" or "Out of the money calls/Puts" for short durations. Could you please confirm.

    Thanks!

  • It's Crunch Time For Dendreon [View article]
    Ted,
I respect your opinion but it's difficult to understand why next Qtr sales would be low. People still get sick and they would need treatment. I bought some more 2 days back..repenting shld have bought it after results. Not sure why their expenses jumped up? Little disappointed but will see the details later.
    Thanks,

  • The Dendreon Debate [View article]
ShaMegro, the efficacy is a median (and not average) of 4 months. Also, it was against patients who were given frozen provenge and not placebo. I think if the patients who were given provenge were compared to patients who were given placebos (and not frozen provenge) the efficacy woudl have been higher. Hope that helps.

Great article. I was wondering why the market slapped it with a 5% down day.
