  • Prospect Capital's Challenges And Opportunities [View article]
Nice article! My thought is that issuing longer term debt and then buying back the stock just recently issued in below NAV sales doesn't make sense. Those funds should be used for growth investments and/or to clean up poor loans from the past. I think management needs to be much more transparent also and needs to do a much better job of explaining the likely positive impact of higher interest rates on the loan portfolio. With the economy getting stronger daily the risk of defaults should be declining. Finally, do they have equity kickers attached to loans that could be profitably exercised and sold into our burgeoning equity market?

  • Start-Up Growth Engine: Heckmann, Where's The Love? [View article]
The keys to HEK's stock digging itself out the hole are nat gas & ngl pricing and the outcome of fracking regulation by Federal & State authorities. If our Country proceeds with the development of the vast shale resources an environmentally safe fracking process is a necessity. HEK is a prime beneficiary of environmental regulation accompanied by increased shale drilling & fracking. My opinion is that such development will proceed and that HEK will once again become a darling of the markets!

  • Fifth Street Finance Stock Buyback Unlikely To Move Needle [View article]
MANAGEMENT IS BOUND TO BE VERY FRUSTRATED DUE TO LARGE INSIDER HOLDINGS AND THE 12% CASH YIELD FAILS TO ATTRACT BUYERS. A MORE ROBUST MERGER ENVIRONMENT AND A HEALTHIER ECONOMY WOULD BE THE TONIC FOR FSC'S STOCK PRICE TO GET BACK TO DOUBLE DIGITS.

  • MarkWest Energy Partners (MWE +3%) gains on a Wells Fargo upgrade to Outperform from Market Perform, citing the company's accelerated distribution growth forecast.  [View news story]
MWE has a strong mgmt team led by Frank Semple & an experienced BOD. Their capital structure is very attractive as there are no IDR's. With an exceedingly strong position in the Marcellus liquid rich areas, MWE is positioned to grow faster than the average MLP. Distribution coverage is very high which bodes well for annual growth of about 6-8%. Old Baldy Bob
