  • Why Chipotle's Valuation Is Absurd [View article]
A P/E multiple of <50 is NOT unreasonable given the incredible growth witnessed by Chipotle. As others have stated, Chipotle has very minimal international presence, which I expect to see changing in the near future. Add to that store traffic is increasing and consumers are buying more on average while in the stores. The likes of McDonalds, KFC would kill for this.

A 50 cent across the board price increase (its CFO discussed price increases generally in the last earnings call) will improve margins without hurting consumer count signficantly (how many of Chipotle's customers are very price sensitive, unlike McDonalds for eg?) and will be a net positive for FCF and earnings. I'm hopeful that shares trend lower in the next few weeks so I can add to my position.

CMG is NOT AMZN, LNKD or other insanely valued tech stocks.

  • Apple Q2 Review And Q3 Outlook [View article]
Mr. Blair - You were clearly on the wrong side of this investment thesis and kudos to you for finally acknowledging that and revising your strategy. All traders/investors have been wrong with their investment thesis, the key is recognize, mitigate losses & learn.

Looking forward to the market open!

  • Chipotle Mexican Grill - Riding The Industry Growth [View article]
Anyone can put together pretty charts. The point of an article such as this one should be to try and predict what the future holds. CMG is under pressure from rising food prices which has hurt margins and has lead it to declare it will be raising prices in Q2 or Q3. The question then is what does this do to growth? The stock is richly valued and its valuation makes sense only in the face of continuing robust growth. From my perspective, a 50 cent across-the-board increase (for instance) in prices will do nothing to my demand for Chipotle, however, other customers may disagree.

I expect the increase in prices to be a net positive for CMG and believe that it will continue its explosive growth and may even see improved margins. Given the challenging macro environment, I expect this stock to fall further after which I intend to add shares...

  • Buying More Google On The Pullback [View article]
I am not a fan of GOOG. Google wastes shareholder money like no other. The Motorola acquisition was an abject failure. Google Glass for all the R&D dollars sunk into it isn't promising any kind of robust return. The less said about the price for the Nest acquisition the better. Add to this a company valued at a PE multiple of 30 with very little in the way of shareholder rights to do anything given the shareholding structure. At some point the market will stop viewing Google through rose colored (google) glasses; if AAPL for instance had a miss like GOOG, it would be down over 10%. No thanks.

  • Long Target? Read This Before You Sell [View article]
Interesting article. I am very closely monitoring Target and intend to add it to my portfolio. As you mentioned, the stock is undervalued and the dividend yield of over 3% is great now. HOWEVER, I feel Target's quarterly earnings to be released in late Feb will disappoint; Walmart for instance just guided lower today. I won't initiate a position in TGT until the dust settles after the earnings...

  • Icahn buys more Apple shares following post-earnings selloff [View news story]
Anyone think this is somehow part of Icahn's master plan?

    1. Shareholders are by and large upset/disappointed with Apple for this precipitous drop in the stock price.

    2. Icahn accumulates a greater number of shares at a lower price.

    3. Icahn wins support of a number of ordinary shareholders many of whom were deriding him just a week back.

    4. Apple's management & board is likelier to listen to him now.

    Man is a genius :)

  • More on Apple: iPhone ASPs jump, cash balance at $159B [View news story]
If 5S was supply constrained why is guidance for next quarter so low? Something is fishy here.

AND a significant chunk of the 160B needs to be spent with a gigantic buyback and increased dividend.

I think Apple & co have forgotten that they are stewards of the company for the shareholders, they don't own the company.
