    Excellent, metro!

Can we expect a new avatar from it?

Maybe with enough publicity the company will make a custom Retromeanderthal version for you.

Rick, I think you should count that as a success in your crusade for Axion transparency.

Yup, D, it's hard to improve on the energy density, abundance, and convenience of hydrocarbons.

While the Solar System is riddled with them in various forms, if you want more bang fer the buck ya just got to go Nukular.

After all, that is how our ultimate Energy Goddess, Old Sol, has solved the thermodynamics dilemma.

Indeed, I profited nicely from my July 4.50 Calls @.75 in NVAX and have written a new batch this week of NVAX 09/20/2014 4.00 C @.55.

Altogether, the calls have lowered my original basis in NVAX of $2.10 to around $0.96! I would be happy to have them assigned or write another batch in September if they aren't.

I think I am getting the hang of this covered call game.

NYS DOH: Ebola Virus Disease Confirmed in a Traveler to Nigeria, Two U.S. Healthcare Workers in Liberia

    http://bit.ly/UItUK6

[EDIT:oops, SA buggered my links again]

    >>
Nigerian health authorities have confirmed a diagnosis of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in a patient who
died on Friday in a hospital in Lagos, Nigeria, after traveling from Liberia on July 20, 2014. The report
marks the first Ebola case in Nigeria linked to the current outbreak in the West African countries of
Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Health authorities also reported this weekend that two U.S. citizens
working in a hospital in Monrovia, Liberia, have confirmed Ebola virus infection. These recent cases,
together with the continued increase in the number of Ebola cases in West Africa, underscore the
potential for travel-associated spread of the disease and the risks of EVD to healthcare workers. While
the possibility of infected persons entering the U.S. remains low, the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (NASDAQ:CDC) advises that healthcare providers in the U.S. should consider EVD in the differential
diagnosis of febrile illness, with compatible symptoms, in any person with recent (within 21 days) travel
history in the affected countries and consider isolation of those patients meeting these criteria, pending
    diagnostic testing.

    Chikungunya Vaccine Developments Promising
    http://bit.ly/UItUK8

    >>According to Malcom Thomas, from Raleigh’s Arbovax, the company were originally working on a vaccine for dengue fever which is a flavivirus, however they were interested to see if they could also use their developmental research on chikungunya. Mice were used in the original testing because they develop the same symptoms that humans do when they are infected with the virus.<<

That magic has a pretty good start in the muggles world at opensecrets.org.

Problem is, they only get disclosures of elected officials. All the non-elected bureaucrats-for-life and revolving door lobbyists get to keep their grafty secrets not so open.

Tis is the best argument against term limits for elected thieves and FOR MANDATORY TERM LIMITS for non-elected "civil servants."

Actually, Deamiter, you can improve the energy density over plain fossil fuels by adding some nitro groups to the hydrocarbons.

But wisdom might preclude riding around in a vehicle full of them anywhere but in the Middle East. And even then, only for a chosen few.

This blog reminds me more and more of the old parable of five blind men trying to describe an elephant.

Only here it is 380 hungry but blind elephant hunters with sharp teeth, sharp knives, and for some, sharp wits.

I shall profess to be too blind to point the finger at which is which.

That is what keeps me gnawing on this old elephant bone.

    Perhaps a reasonable plan, Maya.

Apparently non-steroidal antiinflammatories like aspirin and ibuprofen increase the risk of serious hemorrhaging.

Dengue is also called hemorrhagic fever, as that seems to be the most serious form that can kill.

    NYS DOH advisory released today:
    http://bit.ly/WHdqnF

A few highlights from the summary:
 Dengue and/or chikungunya should be suspected year round in patients presenting with fever, arthralgia, myalgia, rash, or other illness consistent with infection and recent travel to endemic areas.
 Health care providers should report any patient with suspected arboviral infection, including dengue and chikungunya, as required by law. Reporting of cases of dengue or chikungunya infection with laboratory evidence of infection and no travel history is particularly important as this may indicate that local transmission occurred and indicate the need for public health interventions.
 Dengue has been reported among travelers to the Caribbean as well as Asia and Africa.
 Chikungunya is currently circulating widely in the Caribbean. It is also found in Asia and Africa.
Several cases of chikungunya have been reported in NYS residents who traveled to endemic areas. The
number of cases reported among NYS residents has increased due to the ongoing Caribbean outbreak.
 Dengue and chikungunya infection have similar clinical presentations. Testing can help differentiate
between the two viruses and help direct medical treatment. Analgesics containing ibuprofen, naproxen
or aspirin may be contraindicated in patients with dengue.

    Patrick & Rannma,

I would actually prefer to meet her mother.

I want to know what she will be like in twenty years.

My hindsight is sometimes better than 20/20.

Ed, I like the broader category of bozoids.

Not all have orange hair and red noses. Many lurk about you every day, and you only recognize them when they open their mouths, when rainbows and unicorns and pink spotted toads are all that emerge.
