Short $GOOG since Friday. The implied perpetual growth for the prices of many tech stocks is simply not sustainable. There is too much competition, changes are fast and disruptions can occur every day.

This article is IMO a lengthy attempt to talk down the innovations in iOS7, iCloud and the unparalleled quality of Apples ecosystems altogether.

For anyone who wants to get a clearer picture I recommend to watch Apples 2013 WWDC presentation of what's new and what to expect in September: http://bit.ly/1dIcSBD

Lots of awesomeness, only rivalled perhaps by Nokia PureView technology in sophistication.

The new looks of iOS7 plus the new shiny models are really a reason to go iPhone again. There is much more growth in AAPL than the pundits have anticipated.

  • Apple: A New Era Begins, What Will Happen To Its Earnings? [View article]
There's profit from sales of the devices and profit from services, like app sales, music sales, advertising and other deals where the owner of the ecosystem is the gatekeeper, e.g. Apple. Maybe there is a future where the devices will be sold at cost or even subsidized by the owner of the ecosystem.

Examples are Amazon or Chinese manufacturer Xiaomei (see e.g. here http://onforb.es/16nxh7P)

These approaches do not emphasize ASP or margin on a device, but customer-relationship-... instead.

I think Apple can compete in an environment like this and the less expensive they give their devices away the more their customer can spend for services. That's good for the customers and good for Apples profits.
