  • Google Is Set To Transform The Online Video Streaming Industry [View article]
Thanks much for the article, very interesting, and good news. But I would also hope to see similar productions as House of Cards being produced by Google, in addition to "attracting" these small players who use their techfrastructure. Netflix, has the best idea, in "manufacturing", if you will, it's own hi grade content that stands up, at least somewhat, to HBO's.

  • Grow It, And They Will Eat It [View article]
Thanks for this well-writ article! It's a whole subject I've been ignorant about. I would go for an ETF before individual companies, but when's good to buy into one I wouldn't know.

  • Amazon Looks To Disrupt Streaming Video... Again [View article]
The only "box" you need is your computer (tablet, etc), and an interface between your computer and tv, and Chromecast is almost there, but is tied into Chrome "OS"--a dubious achievement. A universal bowser interface is needed, a plug and play "dongle", or router even, using only HDMI, and then you can stream with your computer from any source, just as if you were using your computer at a desk. This is my version of "net neutrailty".
    Thanks for the article.

  • Phillips 66: The Gift That Keeps On Giving [View article]
I once saw a near identical title to an article on, which said," Enron, The Gift Tha Keeps On Giving ". I bawt 100 shares, they soon doubled, then before I could throw a party for myself, went down to minus .25.

I think I'll have a better time owning PSX.

  • 5 Reasons To Buy Bond Funds And ETFs Instead Of Individual Bonds In 2013 And 2014 [View article]
I will never buy a bond at a premium, or due a long way off, so funds are the way to go, but mainly for lack of good choices in real bonds, at least at my broker, TD Ameritrade (whose "bond desk" I don't trust). Thanks for the article!

  • Now Is The Time To Be Fearful [View article]
Obamacare--and I say this as a PROUD LIBERAL in support of single-payer, socialized (italics mine) healthcare in the US-- cannot succeed as is, and will harm the finances of the US because the entire healthcare system is fraught with FRAUD, and, IMO, the biggest single source of fraud is doctors. Obamacare is truly a step in the rite direction, but should not have been taken before a significant percent of the frauders infesting the industry were pesticided out of existence.

Thanks for the article! Great point about ETFs. They are not the same as actual bonds. (IMO ditto GLD--gold)

  • Bond ETFs Vs. Equity ETFs [View article]
Thanks much for this article. It brings up, maybe inadvertantly, how effed up the bond market is, how opaque, how digitally unkept it is. I learned this mostly from buying a few (real) bonds thru the "bond desk" @ TD Ameritrade. Gave me an unsavory feeling. The entire bond market needs a huge overhaul by the, albeit inept, SEC, to raise the transparency level at least as high as it is for stocks--maybe not very, but it's more transparent than for bonds. ETFs are good, but no one should think they actually own any bonds in owning a bond ETF (ditto gold and gold etfs).

  • GOP Hearings On Climate Change May Threaten Entire Green Economy [View article]
Thanks for the article, it's honest and well-writ, with many good points. Of course a discussion of the "science" under, around, and thru this issue degenerates into the usual politiics, the usual rightist rantings about duh librulls and their anti-bizniss laws that "they" have made to hurt "us". And of course the leftists usually defend Big Al's idea that the ice is melting.

While there may be "harm" to "business" from "climate change"--make that "global warming" --legislation, at the same time THE ENVIRONMENT BENEFITS from it--with cleaner air, water, and soil. Anyone, whether liberal or delusionist, should want burning coal as a source of electricity to GO AWAY.

The Earth is in deep shit, man-made mostly, and it's okay to care about the planet, and what happens to it--that is, to US--even if, as I sometimes fear, there's a fugging ice-age toeing in on us.
