    Thanks Jason,
The funding issue scares me some, but I love small cap bio stocks and cant count (or try not to) how many times ive been nailed with dilution over the years. I will keep this one on my watch list. I did some quick looking around and noticed that Technology Partners likes this pick as well.

Jason, great article. This company is very interesting, any ideas on partnering or future funding? Cash seems to be an issue.

  • What Other Neuropathic Pain Drugs Are Missing [View article]
Cris, I'm not sure that Lpathomab is going into phase 2 this year. The company needs to start a phase 1 first. Pancoast stated in the last conference call that they have entered into a "collaboration" with the Department of Defense to test Lpathomabs effect on animal TBI subjects after a blast injury. This interest from the DOD comes from an amazing past study Lpath did on blunt head trauma in mice. If things work out with the blast injury testing, then Lpath could earn several million dollars to further fund the development of Lpathomab.

  • Biodel (BIOD) +12.7% premarket after the biopharma company reported positive top-line results from a Phase 1 clinical trial of two ultra-rapid-acting insulin analog candidates conducted to evaluate pharmacokinetic and injection site toleration profiles relative to Humalog, a rapid-acting insulin analog. [View news story]
Thanks for the reply, There is a long terrible history with Biodel. The FDA rejection was due to bungled trials that were conducted in India. There were issues with tainted samples and rather than conduct another trial, the company filed an NDA in the hope that things would turn out . Well, they didnt. Back then the joke was that someone left the blood samples on the runway at the airport. Anyhow, the company abandoned that formulation of insulin rather than try to take it back to the FDA. in other words that was then, this is now. The company seems to have turned things around and is moving in the right direction. Phase 2 results from a different formulation are due out in a few months. Take care and good luck.

Why do you doubt it would be approved Michael? I don't want to get to far ahead here, as this is just phase 1 results, however the insulin that was used in this study was provided to Biodel by an unnamed big pharma company who gave them permission to reformulate it. Does that make this news more interesting?

You forgot to mention that Omecamtiv Mecarbil is partnered with Amgen in a 600 million dollar milestone deal. That is not "hype" its fact. Kind of interesting that you would leave that out after barley touching on the companys lead compound.

  • Recent Small Pharma Offerings Create Tempting Current Entries [View article]
Chemistfrog, although you have some good picks here, (I am long BIOD and LPTH) I feel that a correction should be made to your article as to the definition of Glucagon. It is not a sublingual insulin as you stated. It is a synthetic hormone that tells the liver to produce glucose and is administered via intramuscular injection. Glucagon is used for hypoglycemic patients that can not control there own airway. It is usually administered when IV dextrose is not an option.

Also your information is a bit out dated because Biodel stated in the last conference call that they were suspending the refrigerated stable glucagon program to pursue an room temperature formula. The company gave no guidance to any timelines for its development and advised that there will be no NDA in 2014.

    Thanks and good luck.
