I have been investing in stocks since 2006. Burned my fingers with bio- and techfunds in the tech boom and again with stocks during the financial crisis in 2008. Returned to the stock market in the dip during late 2011 and focusing currently on finding value from large-cap dividend growers in the Scandinavia.
I'm a professional coder and therefore I have had the privilege of designing and implementing my own strategy backtesters and testing various trading strategies for stocks and forex for many years now.
Self-employed, mid-40's professional managing investments since 2014. On SA to learn how to make more money & fewer mistakes.
Portfolio (below) is a mix of dividend-paying blue-chips & a few spec positions.
Long term goal is to build an income stream for full retirement around 2035 & hoping SSI will be the "fixed" portion.
Growth & total return matter & the goal is to purchase a diversified set of high quality & defensively-tilted businesses, that generate lots of cash, & that pay dividends, when they are trading at, or preferably below, fair value, & then holding / monitoring.
Conservative, GARP-philosophy, diversified yield (barbell) & a defensive tilt.
Dripping everything near fair value.
Adding about 20% of income via SEP & Roth IRAs & manage wife's Roth IRA & a joint account.
Preferred holding period "forever" but will sell when a position has lost its mojo, whatever that might be (competitive advantage, dividend growth prospects, etc). Will also trim based on over-valuation & presumed regression to the mean (but not often, as I have regretted this). Learning to wait for entry-points based on fundamentals, macro-economics & commodity cycles.
Subscriber to M* Dividend Investor & Fastgraphs. I am grateful to many on SA beyond those I follow.

I'm an Army veteran and former energy dividend writer for The Motley Fool. My goal is to help all people learn how to harness the awesome power of dividend growth investing to achieve their financial dreams, and enrich their lives. Motto: I invest in undervalued (i.e. cheap) well-established companies trading at a below market multiple.
The companies that I invest in are large stable companies with proven track records. My goal is the highest total return possible with the least amount of risk.
Professional Background: I am a healthcare practitioner with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sector. I have a passion for investing honed over the past twenty years through various market cycles.
Looking for the value plays in the market. Offering easy to understand analysis usually on a macro level. Despite the efficiencies of the market, value plays are there every day; you just need to work to find them.
My purpose is to purchase great companies at great value. My goal is to assemble a portfolio of dividend growth stocks that will continue to pay and increase their dividends annually in order to achieve my goal of financial independence. Financial independence for me is to have my dividends cover my living expenses come retirement (or sooner would be better!).
I have called my portfolio the Accelerating Dividends Portfolio. My portfolio consists of the following stocks right now:
Core: HAS, OHI
Supportive: LYB, EXR, GILD, WYN
Speculative: SWKS, TGT
I am still working on my investment plan and when it is ready I will share it with you.
As for myself, I am a part-time, self-educated investor who works a full-time day job as a criminal intelligence analyst. I bring my thought process from my job with me to much of my daily life. I like to ask questions, particularly some that are hard and not really talked about. I like to find data and do analyses in order to support or refute my ideas and answer my questions.
I came across the dividend growth investing model when I was searching for a better way to invest my money. I love and advocate the dividend growth investment model because it has touched me the most and helps me to sleep well at night.
I have been enthralled over the last few years with finances (if I could change careers, I would move to financial advising in order to pursue this interest full-time). This interest has stirred within me a great desire to learn and although there is always more to learn, I continue to enjoy the challenge of acquiring more knowledge and experience. I enjoy applying what I have learned particularly in my writing here on Seeking Alpha. I also apply many of my analytic skills and thinking to my articles in order to stimulate discussion to get many points of view. This helps me enhance my own opinion, perspective, and thought process. I hope that what I share will be of worth to the Seeking Alpha community.
I hope you will follow me along this journey towards financial independence and accelerating dividends!
Author of the critically acclaimed book, "Taking Charge With Value Investing (McGraw-Hill, 2013)" and the premium subscription service "Tipping The Scale" (as seen below). An analyst that ranks in the top 4% on both tipranks.com and Motley Fool CAPS for stock picking performance.
Tipping the Scale members gain access to the TTS Portfolio Tracker. Here, members see what I am buying and selling the minute it happens, along with what I have owned, bought, and sold historically. These are just a few of the features on the TTS Portfolio Tracker.
Tipping The Scale is an equity research platform that uses a numeric scale instead of the traditional "Buy, Hold, Sell" to identify the best investment opportunities in the market. Stock coverage is determined by market catalyst, and every company goes through a vigorous test in 10 different categories. The higher the total score, the bigger the upside. In addition, Tipping the Scale also provides a number of portfolio strategies to hedge the volatility of the market and protect from downside.
Check out my instablog for more information on the popular research service Tipping the Scale, including performance information, benefits, and how it all works.

Buy and hold, common stock investor focused on dividends and on value. Interested in various stocks that are suitable for long-term dividend investment. A Buffett admirer, but not a Buffett cultist, and not quite as creepy as my name implies - though certainly cash-centered!

By day, a business executive that is not too far away from retirement. Been building a cash flow stream from dividends and wanted to see if I could AVERAGE a 6 dividend yield at the same time I get a total return that beats the market averages. All while not taking on too much risk. Nothing is more enjoyable then getting cash dividends from my stocks to either reinvest or eventually live on. I invest in all the stocks I write about here on SA.
Current student at Auburn University, majoring in finance. Emphasis on small/mid cap, oil & gas, utilities, and high yield plays. Main focus is on a dividend driven strategy with a long-term horizon.
I am currently building a portfolio of core holdings that I plan to hold long-term. Most of these names are dividend growth plays as I seek to grow my portfolio through the years by utilizing dividends.
My articles express my own opinion. I see my articles as jumping points for readers to further research. I highly encourage that anyone looking to invest does his/her own research beforehand.
Feel free to message me here on Seeking Alpha with any comments or concerns.
