If you can get a sub par average .. you should be Golden... this is a WHOPPER of a WHALE and to buy it so cheap is in our thinking a huge opportunity.. our largest position by far!

  • U.S. auto sales forecast to fall 4% in August [View news story]
Not sure what an old timer is , but I am a car nut.. and there is NOTHING in the GM inventory except for the Vet and Camaro that have any traction .. On the other hand Ford has a line up to die for with the new Shelby 350 R and a host of "F" cars that are just kicking butt.. Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Flex and then there is the F-150 Truck Line that is blowing the doors off. Notably I did not mention the Taurus and C-Max .. Meanwhile F is in the ditch and the stock price has gone no where except down ... Sooner or latter Mr. Market will see the debt reductions and the common platform as a huge bonus for Ford as they continually whittle down the former and keep introducing world class vehicles... Also I would be remiss if I failed to mention the price points of Ford.. All of the F Cars start below 25K with the exception of the Taurus which is just a tad above... I am LONG Ford and by the time I am an "Old Timer" I fully expect Ford to keep me in wheels !

  • Gilead's Stock Price, Harvoni Pricing, And The Threat Of Merck- A Physician's Perspective [View article]
Well... I liked the article but the conclusion as to where the stock price will be is very very conservative.. We have a $125 / share price as of June 30th and $145-150 by Christmas.. and yes this is assuming there is no major market blow out.. The market can not and will not continue to discount the hoards of FCF and the very astute management.. The 15B buy back plus the divi is a total bonus and will also be accretive to those looking for a return plus capital gain. For all the smoke and wringing of hands on this stock, it continues to blow out the quarterly numbers and raise guidance... It is our largest position at present and if there is a downturn in the market we will be adding to the position! Good luck investing and enjoy the beautiful day in the North East!

  • Q2 2015 Takeaway: Blackstone Group's Distribution May Peak In 2015 Or 2016 [View article]
Keuka... You are quite correct.. the reinvestment of the recently harvested gains will be critical on the Go-Forward - management has proven they are not only skilled at investing but they are prudent and calculating.. That said, we are firm believers in their ability to reinvest the gains and continue the path upward to the mid Par number .. We have been adding to the position in the $28 range as we think there is another 30% on the table and we will take the unexpected distributions as a bonus! Your comment is sound.. logical, but our conclusions are different.. we have FAITH in Management .. see you at Mid-Par

  • What To Expect From Gilead's 2Q Earnings: The Theory Behind The Madness [View article]
PD.. I have to agree... GILD will beat and Beat Big but there is likely some air that will come out of the balloon and we too are hoping there will be a downward dip and then a reversal .. I think the fog around the future revenue is holding the stock back somewhat.. but I do believe in the GILD management and to date have been rewarded since our initial purchase to the point we are playing with house money.. So thanks for the article and we too suggest keep some powder dry and hope for a slip Thanks again PD

  • Q2 2015 Takeaway: Blackstone Group's Distribution May Peak In 2015 Or 2016 [View article]
There is a great divide between research and conclusions.. We bought BX at around $17 just a few years ago.. I saw the capital appreciation and we DID NOT buy the stock for the wonderful distributions that have come since.. We always are looking for high class assets that have been purchased at a discount and that is exactly what we see in this stock - Fabulous management, great assets and a track record of success - we do review our holdings but this one is staying as our target is in the $48 - 50 range

  • Gilead Will Keep On Rolling [View article]
First everyone knows our First holding is GILD .. and with that in mind .. I actually sold some yesterday .. Here is the reason why... It is not Greece as the world can live without their olive oil or fresh lamb .. it is not even the possibility that Italy, France, Spain and Portugal also go the way of Greece... ( The EU is a complete mess from our analysis ) but it is CHINA! All the way along, we have been very skeptical of the economy, their ghost cities and discretionary earnings that were not driven by avarice or graft .. Now the equities market is in a free fall with many listed companies now not even trading as they are under halt... So here is my predilection today... GILD will absolutely blow numbers away in the first week of August.. but world markets are going to be roiled and in a panic if China continues to free fall and contract ... further there is the continued hostility in the US with racism and political correctness driving many absurd agendas which make the US a very different place to invest today .. then there is the muslim issue of destabilization and we have quite the climate for us Conservative investors ... I too think picking tops and bottoms is an art I was not gifted at so we use the 10% rule and if we sell and buy within that metric we are gratified.. So, I predict this market is going lower and soon.. so like Bret, we are increasing cash levels and looking for an entry point in GILD of $102 - $104 which is a dip of another $10 ,, This morning is making me look silly with GILD futures quoted up $1.60 but we think this summer will be bringing the market down... so more cash is prudent... Hope all have a great day investing!
