  • Facebook (FB) has disclosed that it received 9,000-10,000 requests for information about 18,000-19,000 accounts from all U.S. government entities in H2 2012, whether those entities be local authorities or the NAS. Microsoft (MSFT) received 6,000-7,000 requests, although Google (GOOG) declined to provide the information, saying it wanted permission to provide more detailed data before releasing such information. [View news story]
Obviously the head of the Justice Department is abusing power, fabricating stories, hiding the truth, and as partisan as anyone can be. Not heightened conspiracy theory, just observing facts and circumstances, motivations and actual results. Same is true at IRS. Left keeps restating that former IRS head was "a Republican" -- no, he was appointed by GW Bush, but that doesn't make him "a Republican" - it makes him someone GW Bush thought was qualified, capable, and acting in the best interests of the country at the time of the appointment. At this point, the IRS is apparently engaged in protecting their jobs, and expanding their power, hence the behavior to target anyone who thinks government is just too big, which it is.

  • The Right And Wrong Reasons To Hate General Electric [View article]
Check out all the Insider selling by several high level GE executives in September, 2008. Look at the SEC FORM 4 HTML published by SEC on 9/17/2008 for trades done about 1 week earlier.

They all got out at over $25/sh before the prices ended up at about $7/sh 6 months later in March 1, 2009.

Is this the result of amazing insight or trading on inside information? You decide. Seems like some very insightful selling.

  • Data from comScore shows that Yahoo's (YHOO) November and December U.S. search traffic fell 28% and 24% respectively Y/Y. The report also says traffic to it's mail service was down 16% and 12% for the same period. That's another big hit to a company whose biggest selling point has always been the sheer size of its web traffic. [View news story]

JeffreyHF -- either you are a young person or an Apple devotee. In either case, it doesn't seem like you have a good grasp of Intel's capabilities, R&D, fab plants, etc.

How about AMD, another Intel competitor. I remember when Intel stock was dumped due to a math coprocessor error, was it the 386, but folks who invested soon after the dump of intel stock made out very well.

    Never discount Intel's capabilities.

As for Apple, I think they've peaked. Android devices are more accessible to developers, have many more brand name products, and betting against Android is a bet against Google. Apple has already tried that, and lost.
