  • Increasing Hum Poses Problems For Tesla [View article]
Interesting point that ignores the environmental cost of production. If you look at the cost of producing the batteries you will find that the production cost of a Tesla vehicle leaves a much higher environmental footprint than any other mainstream vehicle manufacturer on the planet. However, the vehicle does allow smug and ill informed people to feel good about themselves, which is pretty much the only thing that the average owner of a Tesla desires.

  • Why India Will Soon Outpace China [View article]
I am not speaking of Pudong in its entirety, rather the central business area. In the middle of a business day, it felt like I was walking in a ghost town on a Sunday during a long weekend, unlike any other part of China that I visited. My point is that there is something incongruous about the magnificent buildings soaring to the sky and the desolation on the streets below, and that incongruity may reveal deeper economic issues.

  • Why India Will Soon Outpace China [View article]
Two weeks ago, I was in Pudong, Shanghai, China. This area is the home of two of the tallest buildings in the world, soon to be a third.

Yet this "special economic area" is a virtual dead zone, compared to other parts of Shainghai.

Imagine the financial district of one of the worlds largest cities in the most populace nations on the planet being relatively free of traffic?

    Neither can I.

Something ain't quite right, and its coming down the pipe.

  • Apple wins $120M from jury in Samsung dispute, far short of $2B it sought [View news story]
Not an option. Because Samsung altered the software before installing, it made them legally responsible. Google doesn't build the phones.

  • Imperial Tobacco: Up To 50% Upside, 5.25% Dividend [View article]
I expressed no support for his opinions, but let us extrapolate your views through a wider lens. I hope you don't own any GM stock, because they make weapons systems that kill people. Financials? Predatory lending has ruined peoples lives. Google, Apple, Yahoo etc? You support the NSA. Big oil? Gas emissions kill people and degrade the environment, and on and on and on.....

Then why are you berating the author with your selective puritanism?

"I for one am tired of paying for people's decisions to use tobacco products and suffer the health consequences thru much higher healthcare costs in the marketplace"

Not true. Smokers more than pay for their healthcare costs through taxation of the product.

  • BlackBerry Shareholders Cheer Up, It Will Get Worse [View article]
First of all, my condolences on the loss of your father. Despite the grief, there is much to be celebrated in the life of a man who lived to be 98 years old.

Regarding Blackberry, I am flummoxed by the movement in the SP. Blackberry may be on the right path, but this turnaround to a services company is akin to turning pulling a u-turn with a cruise ship in an ice flow.

It is going to take some time.

The truly unfortunate thing is that BlackBerry actually makes good products. The Playbook is the best bargain on the tablet market in terms of build quality, if you can find one. I see tons of people with old BB phones, phones that they have owned for years.

And now we are going to see bargain deals on the well built Q and Z series, as BB finds itself with a lot of inventory that they want to dump.

I suspect that down the short road, BlackBerry products will represent a better bargain than BlackBerry stock, and as a Canadian I wish the best for this company.

Mr. Chen accorded himself with aplomb and I think he is on the right track, but the road ahead is long and fraught with peril.

  • BlackBerry BBM Is Totally Worthless [View article]
I doff my cap to the author. BB may have a future, but that future is at least one year away. I don't care how good the BB 10 line is, BlackBerry knows that the future is not in handsets, and it is going to take some time to pivot.

Thorsten Heins "is supporting the community"?. And you're suggesting I should not have sold @$14.34? Will BB employees be passing the hat on my behalf should I lose my job?
