  • The Biggest 3 Technology Flops Of 2014 [View article]
The Blackberry Passport and the failed and downright weird Amazon phone are not operating in the same sphere as Apple, Samsung, or Microsoft.

Clearly, the Amazon phone is destined to be an epic fail.

The Passport has a chance to excel in a high end corporate niche.

It is all well and good to talk about screen size, but people tend to forget how much real estate is taken up by a digital keyboard.

On this particular criteria, I can see the appeal for the corporate set.

Obviously, the Passport will not rival Samsung or Apple in broad consumer appeal, nor does it need to in order to be a success.

Having said that, I wouldn't touch BB with a ten foot pole. It is a speculators playground, and has been for years. As a Canadian, I wish them all the best and hope that they can stabilize their position in the marketplace.

*Never owned a phone made by any of the companies mentioned. Did well on BB stock prior to the Z10 release, and currently overweight Apple at $68 post split.

Thank you for this. Compelling, objective, and well researched. A rare trio indeed.

My gratitude for your generosity, and I am glad to join the club.

However, given your number of followers, it looks like I am more than a little late to the party! HA!

    Regards.

  • Do The Math: Apple's Fiscal 2015 EPS To Rise (At Least) 25% [View article]
...especially if you sit on them.

Are people really complaining that the new device from Apple succumbs to the pressure of their spoiled and bloated asses?

Pretty sure that the TOS from Apple implies that their product is more beneficial when not sat upon.

Historically, Apple stock has dropped after each product launch.

I take the fact that this has not happened this time as a huge positive.

  • I Am A Dividend Growth Investor. I Want Dividends, Growth, And Dividend Growth [View article]
Kudos to the author for having the wisdom to start early.

As a man in the throes of middle age with a modest income I often suggest to younger people that they should get into the market.

My parents tried to tell me the same thing, but I did not listen.

Your future self will thank your present self, unlike my own circumstance whereby my present self is angry at my past self. HA!

As a young person, you hold in abundance that most rare and unattainable commodity of all: TIME

You are on the right track. Sock away as much as you can while you are young.

Your future self will thank you.

Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada went through the same scenario about fifteen years ago.

The government banned the selling of cigarettes in drug stores because it violated the oath that pharmacists take to do no harm.

To this day SDM thrives, and so will CVS.

    Buy the dips.

The holdings mentioned by the author are in a TFSA (Tax Free Savings Account).

No tax will ever have to be payed on any gains, other than a 15% tax on dividends paid by companies based in the US or other foreign holdings which can be taxed at various rates.

Canadians can currently contribute up to $31,500 into a TFSA, with an annual increase of $5500. If the author buys Canadian stocks within a TFSA no tax will be paid on dividends or capital gains.

Oh dear, another investor who prefers perception over reality.

This Chinese phonemaker is a far greater threat to Samsung than it is to Apple.

They may take market share with the free Android OS, but I will take profit share.

Follow the money, and enjoy the view from the right side of the moat.

This is a cult more than it is a business, and those who support it are not investors. They are cult members. Good luck with all that, but my dollars will be applied elsewhere.
