My career has been defined by industries that connect people, starting in Cambridge with Pye and Philips Telecom where I worked my way from a technical apprenticeship to UK Sales Manager. After working on the Orange brand and sales launch with Hutchison Telecom I spent some time as a consultant before joining Nokia where, over the last sixteen years I have held a number of senior roles including sales, business development, marketing and press relations. Over the last ten years my roles have been exclusively in the communications field, from Head of Corporate Communications for the Nokia Group within the UK and Ireland, Director of Social Media for Nokia Global and latterly Director, Media Relations. Local to East Anglia I am married with 3 children. Apart from gadgets, my passion is the provision of education. I was a governor at Swavesey Village College for many years before becoming a trustee with the CMAT Acadamy Group of Schools and Colleges. I hold qualifications in engineering and I am a full member of the Chartered Institute of PR. My previous directorships include the Nokia pension fund and the MDA. Apart from walking my dogs in the local countryside my hobbies include film and the cinema, where through my work and membership of BAFTA I have encouraged short filmmaking. In my spare time I restore pinball machines which are used to raise money for local charities. A regular social Bridge player I occasionally try the patience of my friends by attempting to play golf.
