  • China's Countdown Continues, Russia's Turning Point And Conflicts Galore [View article]
The tendency to disparage China, the Chinese leadership AND the Chinese people AND their achievements stems mostly from fear of a competitor AND,yes,jealousy....Just think where China was 10 years ago !!! During this period 300 to 400 million Chinese joined the Middle Classes...Achievement unparalleled in history !!! Yes,there were and will be in the future setbacks but there is no doubt in my mind that China forges forward.Diminishing or ridiculing these achievements serves us badly since it may diminish rather than increase our own efforts to become more competitive in the best past tradition of the OLD US of A.....Chinese are resilient and so we must be!

Are you a bit naive or just too young ??? " Petro Dollars" in the 70ties was a much used term for surplus funds flowing into the oil producing countries. "Market Place" all too often errs since to a great extent it depends and relies on the judgement of the great financial institutions. No names, please.Still almost the same names were involved in the petro-dollars deals as in the sub prime mortgages schemes...Unfortunately too many respected buyers rely on the opinions of some Wall Street dwellers...You can easily find their names ,almost all of the great world banks were tempted and succumbed...

Guys,It is very simple. Wall Street operators were charged to find "homes" for the dollars which flowed in the 1970 ties into mostly Arabian oil producer coffers, hence the term "petro dollars"...Billions were placed in sovereign Argentine bonds which in turn were placed/sold to institutions and funds who trusted the wisdom of WS operators...Good faith, trust reputation etc.,etc....Similiar "event" took place a bit more recently with sub prime mortgages...In both cases the underwriters,Wall Street made huge amounts of money while the buyers of these bonds were impoverished...While buyers should beware it happens too often that this quality of merchandise should have never been offered and brought to market...Had due diligence been exercised by the relevant parties much misery could have been avoided !!!

I did! Negligent evalution of the Argentinian risk brought to the international markets huge quantities of junk bonds which defaulted...Wall Street's interest was at the time to recycle huge quantities of petro dollars. And so they made a mint finding a "home" for the petro dollars in Argentine and then selling the Argentine bonds to Institutions and individuals who trusted the Wall Street sharks' judgement...Similiar "excercise" was repeated more recently with the junk mortgage bonds....Still,NO jail time...Latest I have heard from a reliable source is WS spends $ 320.000.000 annually on lobbying the DC establishment(s)...

Anybody could, have should have, known the "problematic" state of Argentine's treasury. The interest rates of the multiple bond issues at the time do reflect the doubts about the repayment abilitity of Argentine's sovereign debt...Yet at the time,WS was busy "recycling" petro dollars which was a very profitable operation and so they didn't give a damn to whom they sold the junk bonds.Situation which was recently reenacted with the real estate junk bonds...The fact that nobody was jailed is a reflection on our regulators AND legislators ...Money talks and damn the "little people"...
