  • Message To McDonald's Management: Don't Sell The Real Estate Assets [View article]
How about spinning RE assets into a "MacREIT" and maintain a majority interest in the REIT to benefit from increased RE value. This way the combined entities would result in an increase in the RE values? Just a thought.

  • Apple Didn't Work For Me But Intel And Microsoft Made Up For It [View instapost]
On balance well done Michael. I've been doing quite well selling calls against my Intel position but now find myself on the wrong side of the trade having sold 47 Jan24 contracts exp 1/18 at $.53. It is now at $1.84 and I am likely to get called away. Concerned about covering at this level as INTC has been fickle. Probably just going to take a profit and exit the stock at a basis of $19.70 not including all the reinvested dividends. May come back at a more atrtractive re-entry point. Thoughts?

  • Coca-Cola (KO -0.1%) welcomes a government probe in China after Internet rumors cropped up over a supposed admission that its orange juice products contain fungicide. The company denies the reports and wants the perpetrators held responsible. The bigger issue: The road to riches in China for big companies such as Yum Brands, Wal-Mart, and now Coca-Cola continues to see potholes as safety and contamination issues can easily be exaggerated in the loose regulatory environment. [View news story]

  • A report ordered by Congress formally concludes that the FDA should limit the amount of salt in restaurants and package foods to lower the risk of heart disease. Sources indicate that the report is the jumpstart legislators need in order to initiate a comprehensive phase-down of the use of salt in the $600B food industry. [View news story]
So this is what our "leaders" are spending their time on to justify their lifetime pensions and superior healthcare they gave themselves. Hmmmm.....seems there are a few things getting overlooked while Rome burns.

  • Cisco: Make 3.2% In 3 Months By Waiting [View article]
How do you like the stock now $15.03 on 7/24. How does Chambers keep his job buying up companies and not adding any shareholder value over the past 10 years.

  • Johnson & Johnson: The Company Buffett Does Not Want To Keep [View article]
Buffet is a media darling way too over exposed. Yes, he has been a brilliant investor over time but he lost all credibility with me when he defended Moody's saying they weren't complicit with the rating of the junk the banks were selling. Bottom line, he's self serving like the rest. So as soon as I say this I remember that he is giving all his money away! Hard to reconcile the two sides of Warren.

  • Chevron: A Solid Long-Term Addition To Any Diversified Portfolio [View article]
I don't see how the buy back adds to my yield. Unless the company increases its dividend proportionately. I may own a larger % of the company, unless the higher earning are returned to me in the form of dividend how am I receiving benefit? Perhaps you would argue the stock price would be higher provided PE remains constant?
