Upon leaving the US Army as an Airborne-Ranger Qualified Infantry Captain in 1974, he joined Merrill Lynch to serve corporations as risk-manager specializing in equity, oil and metals derivatives hedging until 1982. He then joined Prudential Securities to advise banks on hedging the nascent mortgage-origination/MBS-pipeline risks arena until 1992.
He formed his own investment management firms and later marketed option-based portfolio management strategies for Rampart Investments, where he met Harry Markopolos and Neil Chelo in early 1998. Harry, Frank and Neil formed the core Fox Hounds team that began blowing the whistle to the SEC on Bernard Madoff’s Ponzi scheme for nearly 9-years beginning May 2000. Frank
recruited Michael Ocrant as team member late that year to publish an investigative article in MAR-Hedge May 1, 2001, which was followed a week later by an article in Barron’s, again to no avail.
Staring late 2001, Frank helped build Benchmark Plus, a hedge fund of funds, nearly tenfold through 2007. He served London based Close Brothers-Fortune as President-USA for 2.5-years.
In January 2011 Frank co-founded Vintage Investment Partners to identify and build out commodity based alternative investment products. He also is raising a $200M PE Tech Growth Catalyst fund for Menlo-CA based PE Tech experts.
Frank’s 37-years in alternatives investment portfolio and risk management help him identify alpha talent. Frank stresses transparency, liquidity, client control, and never compromising absolute honesty in every representation and execution.
