    • Oil Bubble Breaking? Barron's Outlines the Case, But the Argument is Weak [view article]
the article downplayed some of the factors driving oil upward, including the fact that new oil is getting more expensive to extract and refine. Plus, they only suggested oil falling back to $100... quite possibly temporary at that. I would say $100 oil is hardly a busted bubble.

Seems to me they used an intriguing headline to sell papers...

Electron age? I think we're a few centuries off from that utopia! I don't think people will catch on to the volt if it catches on fire like some of the initial tests. Jun 05 06:26 PM
    • Who's Really to Blame for Rising Oil? [view article]
This article is nuts. We're out of the cheap, easy processing oil and are now moving to the sulfurous stuff that's difficult to extract. Processing costs alone are a reason that oil won't go down. Why is it so hard for people to understand that we have a finite supply of oil? There just ISN'T ANYMORE in the ground.

All Americans care about is being able to go on their summer road trips and take their kids to the soccer game. Now a billion Chinese people are warming up to the same idea. Oil scarcity is a mega disaster in the works.

Interesting perspective, taking into account the environmental costs. However, what are the environmental costs of building a solar panel? What toxic substances are released from their production and disposal life cycle? Apr 21 03:11 PM

looking at that chart you probably could have easily said the same thing in July 06.... a small dip in performance is not a definitive "end". Just proves why taking profits while you are ahead is important in this type of market. Mar 31 09:02 PM

Munis may seem to have good value here, but don't fall for the long term value trap. There could be more to fall if we have an inflation catastrophe spurred by insanely low interest rates and stagflation. Mar 04 02:44 AM
    • Why Google's Vulnerability To Recession Is Good [view article]
What a fallacy... just becuase its NOT a bad thing (an irrationally exuberant bubble) doesn't mean its ALWAYS going to be a good thing. They are still just as vulnerable to a stalled stock price as the former horsemen, including CSCO and MSFT. In case you haven't noticed, CSCO is also cyclical. Mar 04 12:50 AM

Good points and I respect your disagreement. The company has a great story and great product. I would be long this stock, but my main reason for disliking it is valuation. Lots of tech companies sell a great product, but have crappy stocks due to all the good news being factored into the price too early. If management has a hiccup, it would not be good for Athena's share price.

Take INAP for example. I really liked the whole CDN field. All of those companies have good revenue growth. However, their stocks traded at high multiples and they really got crushed in a price war.

This was probably my gutsiest article so far because of the takeover possibility. But I think the dangers of owning outweigh a hopeful takeover.

I think the $90 billion figure meant about $3.2 each for the 28 reactors. Plus... I don't think the Christian Science Monitor is a reliable source of journalism or science (but that's another story).

Not a bad thesis. GE looks attractive right now on valuation.
