seemed like a good quarter, although that yield is starting to look paltry after the Endurance-related price run-up.

  • Don't Resort To A 'Dumb' Portfolio [View article]
    Larry-
I think the efficient market hypothesis answer to your point is that the market price - most of the time, but not all of the time, should reflect the economic value of the company. If true, that means that the index will properly reflect the value of all those underlying stocks. If you don't buy into that, which it sounds like you don't, then indexing definitely is not for you. The next question is what is the track record, in aggregate, of all the active fund managers?

  • Creating A New Valuation Metric: FPEGA [View article]
interesting method.... I am just concerned that this method will be highly levered toward missing inflection points (as any predictive method must be, to some degree). But by going longer out and using longer term growth rate projection, it is highly levered on analyst predictions.

I also agree with the above comment that forward P/E's should already factor in the projected growth - that's the whole goal of capital allocation and capitalism. But creative destruction is also part of capitalism, meaning people lose when those projections are wrong, and that's the inflection point I was talking about missing.

I like your work on finding new tools. Keep writing!
