  • Gold Due to Correct: Sell Randgold Resources to $29? [View article]
So far, so good. Both oil and gold have been steadily sliding since pointed out that the mini bubble might soon be bursting (gold at that time was $840, and oil $98). I agree with you that gold will continue higher, but as I pointed out, correction was needed first to cool down the heat. At this time, trend is still down, and I don't expect them (oil and gold) to bounce for another longer-term rally until they reach key support elements. Just an opinion.

Well, I guess we are keeping our untapped resources for rainy days :) We'll show them all. Once the whole world is out of oil, we'll have it :)

Absolutely is political. Oil has been manipulated for years, and as long as it serves certain political interests we are doomed. Therefore, I am a strong supporter of any other alternative we can get, but I guess we are long ways from coming up with anything meaningful. We need a miracle to replace the oil, I guess. (not because of oil being used as a fuel, because we can come up with that), but because it will be hard to find a replacement for petroleum that is used in producing everything we know. But I guess any bit helps.

Craig, thank you for reading and for your comments. Just thought to straighten some things out, Nortel is also a service provider, not perhaps through fiber backbone exploatation, but through different means of utilizing fiber and airspace communication means. Nortel is very well involved in providing multiple services, and it's not just involved in manufacturing equipment

  • Merrill Lynch: Black Hole or Amazing Opportunity? [View article]
Well, I honestly don't know how to respond to this... a bit of laugh, a bit of thinking, and a bit of worrying how far can you go by posting on a fine line...

But yes, Merrill is big, it's huge, and it's not going away. Just as dollar isn't, contrary to your opinion. So, either it breaks up and each part rises stronger, or it bounces back and waits for a better time to rally, don 't you think?

Yes, good points, but isn't this the whole idea by Chinese govt: to reduce subsidies? As you pointed above, their refiners are subsidized to straighten their balance sheets as they sell at the loss. But I believe that government idea is to stop that practice... but then again, as you pointed out, it's hard to believe that the intention is sincere, coming from the government "raised" on potential corruptive practices and/or family ties for years.

That's a good point alpha24/7. I couldn't agree more that there is abundant supply at these prices. Market will soon find its equilibrium. Thank you for your comments.

Thank you for reading and for your comments, Ernie. I am sure that one day $100 oil will look cheap, but in my opinion, for this oil bull market to continue it first needs to have a reasonable pullback.

    Tex,

I could agree except that there is one variable to consider: nothing goes up in a straight line... nothing, and it never did. So, $1,000 gold? Yes, sure, but not without some sort of pullback, don't you think?

Yes, yes, yes and yes. You are right, Pixelm. It's just that the time has come for this stock, and commodity/mining sector in general to take a breather. I am with you that down the road the gold is to continue rising, and Randgold's profits will rise accordingly. But not now, and not at this valuation/timing ratio. Just my 2 cents. Thank you for reading.

    Hey, El-Greco,

Thank you for reading, and I am glad you spent time reviewing this article. I couldn't agree more with you about media's desires to spin things and to enjoy that power the airwaves give them. And also, I agree about your statement that million of predictions eventually leads to the "right call". Good comments.

  • Global Crossing: Forgotten Wall Street Darling Now a Basement Bargain [View article]
I agree that the business has not been shining for GX in the past, and they have been severely punished for that. Rightfully so. However, I believe that the times are changing and the worse of GX is over. At this level, I believe that GLBC is a bargain, as turnaround might just be starting. Although this is a speculative play, I believe that the risk/reward ratio is definitely on a side of reward here...by large. Just my thoughts
