  • United Continental Holdings' (UAL) CEO Jeffery Smisek on Q2 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
You're certainly welcome to your opinions, markcc; I prefer facts. The facts are that United has increased its numbers in all areas, and this is not due to mere "marketing efforts", but rather true customer satisfaction. It simply has to be that way, as ultimately "customer satisfaction" is what drives profits/losses. Sorry to be a downer for you.

United is truly one of the greatest airlines. They have improved dramatically over the past several years and have morphed into a wonderful airline. Their profits speak volumes about the numbers of people flying and liking them!

  • United Airlines Bullish Or Bearish? [View article]
It would be really helpful if you got your facts straight before putting out a video. There were many falsehoods (I assume you were not attempting to outright lie) in your report. One such misinformation is that the employee groups have separate contracts. That is simply false. All employee groups, with the exception of the flight attendants, have a single contract. There were many other errors, but I think people will get the drift.

Size kills. One thing to learn from this is if your position was small your loss would be small. You can always use calls and puts to either stop the losses or recover your profits. MU is a great company to bring in income while waiting for the market to move. Lower your cost basis by selling options, sit out the decline and earn income.

"...keep a careful watch on consumer behavior for signs of excessive borrowing. Because it always leads to ruin." Exactly right! When will we learn the borrower ALWAYS becomes slave to the lender. Here today, Yuan tomorrow.

  • Protecting Your Equity Portfolio For Less - Part II [View article]
I agree with Pony01. United is an entirely different airline today, which is evidenced by its 38 billion in revenue that it made last year, which so far surpasses any previous year that it is, indeed, incomparable. United has merged with Continental Airlines, and has entirely new management. This new management's objective is "10% return on capital every year", which they succeeded in doing last year. The airline is being run in an entirely different manner, has absolutely huge cash reserves now, and has changed so much that it is nearly unrecognizable from what it was just 4 years ago before the merger. With its aggressive plan to pay off its debt, increase its already large cash holdings, and excellent management, I would not at all bet against United.

  • In This Year Of The Horse, Ride The Best In Our Stable: UDOW [View article]
Uh, what'd you say? This article sounds like this, "MMs say 'buy' and there's good upside potential." That's about it. It doesn't provide much confidence because, to the average investor, this article is largely unintelligible.

This was a great article; I've used options to protect my portfolio for years and am very thankful I did that. Don't listen to those who are "Option-Phobic" and don't know how to use them. I was wondering, is there a way to sign up for your upcoming articles? I saw this one just by browsing here, but I'd like to receive a notification when your next ones come out if possible. Please let me know if there is a way to do that. Thank you.

  • VXX Hits New All-Time Low - How Far Down Can It Go? [View article]
Richard, that was an eye-opening article, thank you. Now my question is this: let's say that someone thought VXX was just like VIX and went long at 40. Then when it dropped to 17 went long again. Hypothetically speaking, what would your recommendation be to them now? Just get out before it goes to pennies? The good news is, I hypothetically sold a lot of calls along the way so my hypothetical performance is not quite as bad as it seems :).
