  • Retirement Strategy: My Exclusive 2015 Portfolio For Seeking Alpha Is Ready Right Now [View article]
It took you 58 minutes to name them, nobody would have faulted you if it had been an accurate list and taken a shade longer.

  • Recent Buy: The Walt Disney Co. [View article]
Wish I had the funds to buy 15 shares as this will be an excellent purchase tomorrow, next year, 10 years and will fund his FI for many years after that.
Always look forward to your content here on SA and your blog. Keep up the great work.

  • Why I'm Considering Selling My Core Position In Coca-Cola [View article]
Always interesting to see a person's thought process play out in an article and then expand in the comments.
I think a lot of the price increase lately is due to the so-far unfounded rumor of a buyout offer coming in the $90 range.
Personally I am holding my shares through thick and thin.
Sorry for the random thoughts and thanks again.

  • Dividend Growth Investing, Total Return, And Indexing Revisited [View article]
I am 35 years old and also a DGI guy. Please don't speak for all of us, I choose the higher income. I don't want to sell my assets to create my own dividend that's why I'm buying certain companies.
In order for this article to have more validity for me and a more equal comparison is to take total of the company portfolio and calculate the results. To me your conclusions are comparing apples to cars.

I do love articles that generate comments it only to further knowledge
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Dividend Growth Investing IS Total Return Investing [View article]
    Great article and comments generated!
I have been a DGI now for only two years and obviously wish I had started 10 years ago when I first got married and thinking of the future, (oh to be early 20s again).
This may be a simplistic view, but from a simple guy its what you get, but doesn't the yield put a floor in for the share price. What I mean is that with each increase you have a higher floor est. as people will build the price up to capture the short term higher yield thus returning it to its historical range. It is why KO doesn't yield 15% but ranges around 3%. Think of each company as a building. Each div increase adds another story. I am looking for companies that are continually building higher and higher.
    Simple works for me.

    Thanks Josh

Long GE, KO, PFE, O, PSEC

It's not just batting avg it is really your On Base Percentage. Get in the game by getting up to bat (money invested) and a long game of small ball will yield extraordinary results. Many of the positions will cross home leading to a comfy income stream.
This might be an interesting way to put together a team

  • General Electric: Profits In Rear View Mirror Will Be Larger Than They Appear [View article]
Basically by Tuesday GE will either own 80% of Alstom or have another $230 million in overseas money for the next acquisition target, right?

  • General Electric Lights Up France And Beyond [View article]
As I understand it the French gov't is buying its 20% from Boyannes and they currently disagree on a price. The minister has said that this approval of the deal is contingent on them getting the 20% on their terms or it will be blocked. The devil is in the details and by Monday afternoon we should know all the details after they have been hammered out based on France's conditional approval.
    Should be interesting on Monday.
Thanks for the article and the comment stream to follow

  • The Rookie Retirement Portfolio: Am I Diversified? [View article]
Over the last 18 months I have created what I believe is a good foundation to base the future on. After doing a little buying/selling to start with I know I have a strategy in place for future decisions.
    GE 35%
    KO 20%
    O 20%
    PFE 18%
    PSEC 7%

Looking forward to the rest of the series

Yes it is a must. I currently have about 35% of my portfolio in it, granted it is small. I have a tremendous amount of faith in GE and am not afraid to buy more if it is the best value that I see
